I remember a like a year ago Bellator offered their glove design rights to the UFC to prevent eye pokes. It seems the UFC never addresses the eye poke problem when it is changing the possible outcomes of fights ( Brown vs Mintrionne). Is it pride or what? Because I rarely see eye pokes in Bellator.

from the pr stuff from bellator though it just seems to reduce fighters breaking hands.

looking through briefly, doesnt look like they have made any difference to eyepokes.

see below

The first event to use the new gloves had a fight end due to an eyepoke (Lara/Diekmann) and another match with eyepokes from both guys (Green/Richman.)

(Just had to go research)

Looks like the Everlast gloves from BEllator were designed to decrease hand injuries, mainly. I don't see anything about doing anything for eye pokes. Due to the time difference here I don't see much Bellator -- Have these decreased the eye pokes in that org? Can it be attributed directly to the gloves? Who is the UFC's glove manufacturer?

*EDIT* Crap. Looks like Dimspace beat me to it.

Because it's the UFC not Bellator duh ;)

PRIDE glove in my opinion. Pretty stupid they're not using it.

They could just adopt sambo gloves.

Not like there isnt glove designs out there that arent more suited, its just a pride thing with them .

Even if it just reduces breaking hands thats still an advantage still pretty dumb

I have said it before and I will say it again. When there is a question or issue in MMA, the UFC or the unified rules, the answers can be found at PrideFC

The fighters would probably get fined by Reebok.

Looks like there have been some eye pokes with these gloves, but not enough data available to see if the occurrence has decreased any. Even if the UFC were to want to adopt these gloves, there's no way Reebok would allow it.

Wouldn't that make the UFC admit they were in the wrong?

the least Reebok could do is do some research and make new style gloves. But the UFC live by the motto:"if it ain't broke don't fix it" even if it does need fixing
