Why doesn't Mark Hunt ever throw kicks anymore?

I know Hunt's strength will always be in his hands, but is there a logical reason for him not to throw the occasional kick to keep opponents honest? I know there are potential dangers of slipping or putting himself into a "bad spot" if the kick were to be caught and he was taken down. It's not like he has to be Cro Cop where the opponent is just waiting for the kick to try to counter it.

The odd time in PRIDE, you'd see Hunt throw a kick, but now, even when with the improved take-down defense and wrestling, he never throws it. It seems to be the one aspect of his game that he hasn't developed in the last few years.

Edit: And I meant medium and high kicks, not so much the low stuff. Sorry.

He threw a few kicks against Bigfoot, I'm guessing he stopped because of Bigfoot's own leg kicks

Makes you more susceptible to being taken down and he's never been particularly good off his back. And in the case of his last fight, having Bigfoot on top of him for extended periods of time would have been a disaster.

Good question. He has/had some hard ones, that's for sure.

If he faces a pure striker we may some. He had a couple on Big Ben, if I remember correct, that had joe rogan getting his O face on.
I'd really like to see way more of the knees to the solar plexus from the clinch he used to ruin guys with.

As others have said, he threw a few low ones at Bigfoot.

Mark Hunt has short legs, he's just not built for an effective kicking game.

Well he caught Bigfoot with a nice body kick I think, and as for head kicks I think he's too short and not flexible enough he also doesn't really need to use them with the risks associated

Because he is 39 years old

My Dad's 6 years older then that and can still Throw Spinning heel Kicks and High Kicks without Even warming up .. He's a TKD Champion and Karate Blackbelt .. But I'm sure Hunto is more qualified .

Therefore I'm sure Hunt can still kick if my Dad can lol . I may be wrong though who knows.

because he has to keep his legs level enough to carry the WMD in his gloves

Takedowns, and being shorter than everyone in the division except maybe Pat Berry would mean a big chance of getting plowed in the face when he throws a leg kick.

If Hunt relied on the kicks more (low and medium) his opponents would be quitting. His kicks are probably as strong or stronger than Pat Barry's.

I think the kicking game was part of his strategy against JDS, but then he broke his toe.

Definitely would like to see Hunt use more kicks though, as they are devastating.
