Why do women enjoy movies/shows about infidelity so much?

From all walks of life, women just seem to gravitate toward movies or shows involving a cheating spouse and the drama that ensues. Just look at the Lifetime Movie Network where all the movies involve a cheating spouse and/or crimes and murders. This new show "The Affair" is watched mainly by women.

Do women secretly wish for some sort of infidelity drama in their lives the same way guys have a fantasy of being a National Geographic scientist or former Green Beret turned renegade cop?

I'm surprised most females genuinely enjoy any show or movie seeing as most of them can't shut the fuck up or play with their phone for more than ten minutes.

They most likely experienced the type of behavior by one or both parents and it's familiar to them. Be it right or wrong...the familiarity is homey* and comforting in some Freudian ways.

Humans (women AND men) enjoy watching drama as long as it doesn't personally involve themselves. This is why celebrity scandals and reality shows are so popular.

There's a popular category of movies called "drama". That should have tipped you off.

Some women rank cheating up there with murder and serious crimes like that.

Newsflash

Women love drama... even awkward, cringe worthy drama

Maybe cause they dont want to feel like they are the only ones.
Probably cause they are trying to understand themselfes better.

i guess im wondering, why do guys gravitate toward Jason Bourne and Bear Grylls type entertainment and women toward "The Affair" type of stuff.

my guess is that guys wish they could be a Jason Bopurne or a Bear Grylls.....do women wish they were the characters in these Affair type dramas?

Take a look at mah cahk.

Women are more interested in people and social interactions, hence soaps. Although you've obviously misinterpreted it as confirmation bias for your negative beliefs about women.

Women gravitate toward romance and romantic comedies (aka chick flicks) way more than "infidelity" movies.

Also, you're an adult, you should know the difference between the interests of men and women by now.

What makes you think The Affair is mainly watched by women?

women watch the Bachelor and Bachelorette for fucks sake

a show about meeting and marrying a person you literally just met, on TV, and has likely banged every other 'contestant' on the show.....

They like conflict, crying and all that shit. Also it involves peeking in to someone elses lives (fictional or not), gives them something to talk about I guess
