Why didn't GSP or Jones move up one weight division and fight 3X in their prime like Anderson did?

It's looking like Jon Jones is also scared of moving up one weight division and fighting 3X in his prime like Anderson did.

Thoughts?

Prob didn't feel like it imo

Because Anderson Silva was in the division above GSP.

So people could hype this guy Johnny Hendricks who I & most casuals have never heard of.

Probably the same reason he was rocking a 20% finish rate over his last 10 fights (and one of those was a between rounds quit by BJ Penn - not an actual finish).

GSP pre-Serra was really fun to watch and had a solid finish rate. After losing his belt once he decided to play it safe forever after. The last real attempt to finish a fight we saw from GSP was him kicking Matt Serra's ass. After that it was 25 minute top control clinic after 25 minute top control clinic.

Zzzzzzzzz.

cuz defending ur belt is the greatest thing ever. going up in weight is mean to the other contenders. it should not be allowed!

The same reason why "new fans" think BJ Penn was never any good. BJ didn't care about going up in weight, gambled with his win/loss record and legacy and now ppl think he was never any good...

For some reason, win/loss means a lot in MMA when it shouldn't at all. That bullshit was made popular by Boxing Promoters to sell fights and for some dumb reason, ppl still believe that crap actually matters.

If the money was right I'm sure he would have. No point in fighting at a disadvantage for the same purse. The only fight that would've made sense was Anderson since they would have killed it on PPV points.

Matt Hughes had set the record amount of title defenses at WW & GSP wanted to surpass that and secure his legacy at WW as the GOAT. There was no real title defense record at MW during Silva's reign so he was free to move around and do what he wanted while racking up title defenses at MW. When GSP & Silva was finally talked about Silva started goofing off in the cage vs Leites &Maia, which pissed off Dana, who decided to punish the fans for Silva's performances claiming Silva didn't deserve GSP.

Hmm...I don't know.

Maybe he was busy clearing out a division and defending his title against no: 1 contenders?

His coach believes that when a fighter moves up in weight they're not going to be the same when they come back down (referencing examples in boxing).

So the gameplan that was spoken was that if/when GSP changes weight-classes it would be long-term.

How is a TKO not an actual finish? BJ quit, doesn't matter how and when, in fact, quitting might have saved his life.

Anderson never did that shit against a single quality opponent you fucking news twit.

If we were here in person, I'd beat the shit out of you for pure stupidity.

After Serra he Bludgeoned Jon Fitch and Koscheck bad, made the same BJ who look unstoppable 3 fights before and 2 fights after GSP, and tried to take Hardys arm off twice.

It's not a finish in the same way that getting knocked the fuck out is not the same as being too tired to continue.
