I've seen him fight before, teddy bear was doing crazy spinning kicks for a fat slob but never really showed any real promise or talent to merit a ufc signing. Dude has an obvious lack of discipline, with that Scott ferrozo - folds hanging over the trunks- gut. Dude had to power out of the bottom cause he doesn't have good bjj technique, etc. Tired of these Maurice green type level hws, Wtf?!

Should the ufc be signing scrubs like this? They have the money to chase way better talent, smh. I guess with their pay they end up chasing them off lol.

They thing is. The present UFC has realized that they'll make just as much money while not signing exclusively the most talented. Its the luxury of being a near-monopoly. Back in say, the Pride days, talent was important since people were comparing rosters. Now the UFC is so powerful that they can put on whatever and people will still watch, since in the mind of the public they're the only game in town.

Plus holding events once a week means that they'll need a ton of talent and so many bodies are needed. They're just there to fill out content. Thats what ESPN pays them for.

True. That explains perfectly the manner in which the ufc can get away with signing trash like this without any backlash from its cashew sheep.

I mean just look at how unprofessional this dude is, no dignity even.

Philip Lins pulled out so the UFC scrambled to find a replacement last minute for Rothwell. It first went to a fighter called Askar Mozorov who then had "visa issues" (also under contract with PFL?) then they got Barnett.

I highly doubt they would of signed him under regular conditions.

They thought they were re-signing Rampage

Hillbilly Ben Rothwell is a contender....

That should tell you something.

I'll go along with this. The UFC have built a brand and a platform that's so huge they can cheap out on the fighters.

Lol I'm sure some of the guys in the World Wide Section would find a way to rationalize this. He's been a cult hero to many on there for years now.

well... they need to fill the cards with somebody?
obv they've some kind of marks to hit.all this f level talent is just a cheap air time fill

He’s been a fun guy floating around for years. I never thought I’d see the day he made it to the UFC.

Why you got a fat shame that dude? Ben Rockwell isn't exactly small or weak and I'm sure teddy bear would beat the brakes off you. Calm down

Hard to find late replacements. I'm sure he wasn't their first choice.
Plus he guarantees a finish in this matchup.

No need to shame him, he does a good job at shaming himself already lol with that physique you truly have to have zero discipline and self respect as a martial artist in the top org in the world. If that’s your idea of a profesional mma fighter then hey, do you. I have higher standards (there’s a big difference between being a bit chubby and letting yourself get to that high ass percentage of body fat, plus being so short as well). This is mma not sumo wrestling. You’re telling me to calm down, when I am already...why are you so defensive and sensitive about the subject ? I wonder why?

At heavyweight. The weakest division in all of MMA. This isn't unique to the UFC. A 37 year old Ryan Bader is the Bellator Heavyweight champion.

Their just isn't a lot of talent out there at that weight.

LOL Op angry and ranting about a short notice replacement prelim opponent for Rothwell. Be mad at yourself that you follow a sport with a shallow HW division instead.

Okay. I'm not defensive just wondering why you're being so harsh on the guy. He's in the octagon and you're in a forum. He's not doing so bad.
