Who's easier to take down? Chris Curtis or Marvin Vettori?

Rob took Marvin down 1 time didn't he?

Vettori has officially been taken down 9 times in 14 UFC fights by Whittaker, Costa, Hermansson, Carlos Jr., and Uda with 75% takedown defense.

Curtis has officially been taken down 0 times in 6 UFC Fights.

But Vettori has fought better guys and more guys that want to take him down than Curtis has.

I can't remember Curtis' fights too much but probably him?

Vettori is a perennial top 5. He just neutralized Dolidze who is monster

Curtis got taken down over and over by some Magomed on his fights in PFL. He fought him twice, got wrestlefucked twice badly. Complained and bitched about the Magomed "not wanting to fight him" both times.

I think Vettori is harder to pin down. He has faced better competition IMO.

Chris officially has 100% TDD, but it's partially misleading. While he legitimately stuffed Allen, Viera, Gastelum, and Hermansson (many of which seemed to come with a striking gameplan), I feel like Hawes could have gotten him down. Phil kept feinting level changes, only to bail and use the setup to land shots upstairs as Chris went to address the threat of the takedown. Watching some of the feints, however, there was at least a time or two where in the words of DC he "beat Curtis to his hips" and had the takedown all but finished before going back to boxing. The statisticians just count them all as failed. Anyway, Chris very clearly has very solid TDD nonetheless, especially for someone who is fairly undersized.

Vettori impressed me with his ability to stay upright and outscramble Hermansson consistently in their five-round fight and has generally above-average TDD given his ability to fend off the likes of Sanchez, Ferreira, Akhmedov, and Dolidze. But he has also been outgrappled and put on his back more than a few times in other performances.

Hard to compare due to level of competition; I tend to think that if Chris fought all the same guys as Marvin, one of them would eventually get him down at least briefly. They're probably around a similarish level these days honestly.

He would have powerbombed him and gotten koed because of his glass sugar chin.

Hawes's chin only reached true critical mass levels after Curtis and then Dolidze put him out. He wasn't particularly durable before, but after those fights it seems like a stiff breeze will do him in.

Hawes chin will soon reach James Vick level. Aliskerov didn't even look like he meant to KO him

I'm not convinced that he isn't there already. I think the UFC might give Phil one more chance and I'd pick just about anyone on the Middleweight roster to beat him via KO at this point -- even guys that he's way better than on-paper.

I'm gonna go with Curtis, Vettori has been pretty difficult to take down against far better competition.

Vettori can take a shot and defends himself well considering his level of competition, but he’s so painfully unimpressive for a perennial top ranked fighter. One of the dullest fighters I’ve ever seen.

While I do agree his inability to finish fights is utterly depressing, boy is almost never in a boring fight, expecially if he can walk forward.

He's a solid albeit unremarkable generalist. He lacks that special "spark" or X factor of raw athleticism and legitimate talent to really make him elite IMO. Ironically, it's why I thought he would beat Dolidze. Roman is an extremely dangerous finisher on the feet and on the mat... but lacks a lot of the fundamentals to really apply himself in either area without the other dude making a mistake first. A workman like Vettori with "serviceable" all-around fundamentals who's seemingly impossible to finish seemed like a bad match-up for him... though he still struggled more than I expected lol.
