Colby Covington is known for his grappling and all

but CM Punk was on another level.

Colby has a strong wrestling background that was always shown and felt, but his bjj skills were always without any depths.

Yaroslav Amosov, Ramazan Kurmagomedov, Logan Storley have better BJJ skills than Colby even if the former come from Sambo, and the two latters from wrestling.

Gunnar Nelson. Never submitted, 7/8 on UFC submission attempts, bjj black belt at 21. Pretty clear, really.

WW doesn't have much in the way of good bjj these days.
Does he still fight?
If so, I'd agree with you. Though it's hard to forget the image of Maia grapple-fucking the shit out of him.

Yeah but Maia was Maia.

I thought they were both retired but who knows?

For some reason Belol didn’t want to go to the ground with one armed Gilbert.
He sticks to the gameplan. It's something he's actually really good at, but he wont deviate from it.

Are you saying that, his jiujitsu is better than Gilberts, but we didn’t see that because his coaches made a plan based on avoiding any grappling with Burns?
Or what do you mean?

No i am not saying his jiujitsu is better than Gilberts. I am saying that the gameplan was to keep it standing. So even though Gilbert got injured, he just stuck to what he was gonna do anyway.

His corner probably told him to stick to it too.

current: gilbert burns.
all time: maia
Maia was an amazing BJJ guy.

It's too bad he had a spot of bother actually getting it to the ground

I still remember his dolphin dives for Masvidal's legs lol

Maia is in top ten for most takedowns landed in UFC history. It wasn't pretty at times, but he was pretty good at getting it to the ground. He arguably picked up wresting better than any other BJJ guy. He just struggled with takedowns against stud wrestlers like Usman and tryon etc etc, guys who everyone on the roster would struggle to takedown. Unfortunately, those times when Maia struggled with takedowns, happened to be in some of his highest profile fights.

Khamzat was scared to be on the ground with Burns.
