Apologist bravely blaming the attack on a black man who wasn't there.

This is not to say that all violence was initiated by the facist scum who came to cville with David Duke and Richard Spencer. But a great deal was, and anyone who says that they were "just defending themselves" is lying to you.

The people being attacked in the parking garage ran in after the 60 or so white supremacists with David Duke attacked them at McIntire Park and chased them there. They were not antifa, they did not initiate anything, they were local cville residents who were lined up in front of the park when Duke and co. arrived.

The people around the statue were a mix of students and locals who were surrounded. The people attacking them were not defending themselves.

The person who drove into a crowd was not defending himself. He was not surrounded until after he drove into a crowd. This has been confirmed by multiple eyewitnesses.

The statue was getting moved to a museum, not being dynamited. It was the decision of the local community.

People take a lot of offense to the Confederate generals because they fought to preserve the institution of slavery.

In modern times many of the cities and towns the statues are located at are majority former slaves so it just doesn't make much sense.

The statue is being moved to a museum because city council decided that they didn't want a statue celebrating a man who fought against the united states and enslaved the ancestors of people living in the city.

Ah ok, I thought they planned on just putting it in storage or so. Personally, I wouldn't have an issue with that statue being in my town.
But it seems that moving it to a museum looks like a good compromise.
You still preserve the history, good or bad I just never like trying to make it disappear.
And people that might have an issue aren't reminded every day.
