In the second half of 2021 two much talked about European Fighters made their highly anticipated UFC Debuts. Paddy Pimblett from Huyton, England (basically Liverpool) and Ian Garry from Portmarnock, Ireland. Realistically, out of the two, who do you think has the higher ceiling, and just how high do you think that is?

Paddy 'The Baddy' Pimblett

Garry's striking looked reasonable in his last fight. He's still raw, but I get the sense he's much more of a "student of the game" than Paddy. Assuming he paces his still young career wisely, I think he'll be the more formidable fighter.

However, Paddy is going to get a pretty cushy string of opponents and the UFC to showcase him, so it might be a while before he gets exposed. But for that matter, who says they're going to throw Garry to the wolves, anyway?

I don't think it's even close here. Ian by a good margin. Paddy's been around a very long time on the European circuit and watching his 2 UFC fights, he doesn't seem to be as far along as he should be after 10 years as a pro and 20+ fights. He's entertaining, but I don't see Paddy getting anywhere near the belt or even the top 5. Ian on the other hand seems to be technically very good and has a fight IQ and composure beyond his years. Ian could absolutely be a future top 5 guy if not a title challenger.

Ian seems to be far better than Paddy as a fighter. Paddy looks sloppy and I won't be surprised if he gets knocked out cold in one of his next few fights. However, Ian is horrible to listen to, and his fights are way less entertaining than Paddy's.

Paddy is around the 100th best lightweight in the world. His fights against Narimani, Bak, Vendramini, and Vargas are evidence of that. Paddy's ceiling is around the 50th best lightweight.

Garry is around the 60th best welterweight. His ceiling is 10-15.

You mean why hypetrain Pimblett or Garry? I see no reason to so I say no!

Interesting. Garry is pretty young, you don't see a possibility of him cracking the top 10 or even top 5?

Garry's striking is so quick and crisp. Hope he brushes up on his wrestling and td defense bc I like him a lot

Ian actually looked like he got better since his last UFC fight so he probably has a higher ceiling. Paddy's non existent defense is probably staying around
