Which bag glove should I get? Rival or Everlast?

I was looking at upgrading my bag gloves since they are falling apart. I am interested in wrist support mostly. I have heard good things about Rival gloves so i was thinking about switching to them from my current elastic strapped everlast gloves that are falling apart.

Which glove will offer me better wrist and hand support and protection? The Everlast Proxtex2 leather bag glove or the Rival RB1 or RB20 bag gloves?

I was kind of wanting to get away from everlast stuff. Like i mentioned, my gloves are falling apart, i got some of their evergel wrist wraps and those have a few tears in them, I am on my second double end bag since christmas because the first one broke, and my speed bag doesn't hold air for more than a half hour. so i feel like everlast stuff is kind of crappy. But i wonder if since i've been buying the low grade "home" edition stuff if it is lower quality than their more expensive stuff.

While we are on the topic, it seems like the big difference between the Rival RB1 and RB20's is the wrist strap. Rb1 seems to use a normal wrist strap while the rb20 uses a weird 15 decree strap system. Does anyone prefer one over the other?

Thanks for your help in advance.

Well I can't really comment on Everlast or Rival gear, but I have a pair of Lonsdale bag gloves that I swear by. I am considering getting a pair of Lonsdale training gloves because I like them so much.

They are on sale right now I think.

Another good pair I can recommend are the Title Platinum Paramount bag gloves. A friend of mine got them recently and they look and feel really nice; definitely would consider those for a mid-high level glove.

I guess I didn't really answer your question about Rival or Everlast but hopefully that helps if you are just looking for a good pair.

no worries man, everything is helpful. How are those title gloves as far as wrist support goes?

I personally prefer the Everlast gloves, preferably the Protex2 Evergel series. Very comfortable!

The wrist support on the Title gloves is pretty much top notch from my recollection, I think the closure wraps around twice. I remember thinking I wanted to try and buy a pair myself, but I already had a good pair of bag gloves in my Lonsdales so no need to be greedy.

The main strong point of the the Lonsdales is how the glove feels, virtually no break in time and it you really feel like you can unload full strength and not have to worry about your hands/wrist. I like the feel of the Lonsdale gloves a little better, but I overall the Title gloves offer solid wrist support (I'm assuming you use wraps as well).

Personally I recommend picking up Ringside's IMF Tech bag glove.

My RB20's are falling apart on me after 3 months use. The hand compartment lining is full of holes and in the case of the left one completely separated so my knuckles are right up against the foam padding. Sucks because aside from this they are awesome gloves. Fantastic wrist support which is my main concern. I have a review up in the review section about them.

Thanks for the input everyone. and Shogun, i actually read that review and I thought it was a solid review and thats the only reason I'm even thinking about these gloves. Obviously i wanted to keep asking around about them too.

Thats unfortunate they are falling apart, I now have to give this more thought since wrist support is very important to me.

I'm telling you, Ringside's IMF Tech bag gloves. I was out all of February with a wrist injury and with these gloves I'm not worried at all now.

I say get the Title platinum paramounts or the title platinum ultimate bag gloves. I just got the ultimates a few weeks ago and they are great. The paramounts have the more advanced wrist support so you may want to go with those.

The ringside imf's would be good too but I prefer to support a company that actually gives a crap about customer service, shipping time, and lower shipping rates.

the everlast pro mex series is quality equipment, much better than thier cheaper gear, Rival is a good brand too. I would keep researching and reading reviews online and then make a decision.

The truth will set you free......

Fuck Ringside and their sorry ass excuse for "customer service".

I rather use ripped up, worn out equipment at a ratty gym than give another penny to Ringside.

On another note,

I own the Rival Elite Bag Gloves. They are great. The wrist lock system is a bit cumbersome to work. Took a bit for it to break in. I could make a good fist right off the bat, but the contact point needs a bit of time. The best part about the gloves for me personally is, I have to throw my punches with PERFECT technique or it won't make that nice "POP" sound when I make contact on the bag. Maybe different for others, but thats how the gloves work for me. They make me concentrate on perfect mechanics.

I have the 12 oz., use 180 in. mexican style hand wraps and have medium size hands (8 inches around the knuckles). The hand compartment used to be perfectly snug, but over time, they have widened a bit. The hand moves a bit but not enough to bother me or cause unnecessary abrasions on my knuckles.

I've had these gloves for over a year. I do 10-12, 3 min. rounds 4 times a week. The construction is still very solid. The leather is very nice still but the orange paint stripe is a bit worn and dirty on the contact patch. I feel like its almost time for a new pair of bag gloves because the foam has compressed a bit, which is expected with heavy use. I do enjoy the feeling of my knuckles digging into the punch though. I hate getting new gloves because of the "pillow" effect. Let a glove get too old and you suffer knuckle pains so they have to be replaced at some point.

Well i got the Rivals and i must say i am disappointed. They are very small and light. I got the large size and my hand would be in severe pain after only a couple minutes with them wrapped up. The extra large's are slightly bigger but not very much I havent put them on with wraps yet, although they fit my hand without wraps very nicely but they dont offer much in the way of wrist support.

Luckily their customer service is top notch and they have a solid return policy so if they dont work out for me the debate comes down to....

1) title platinum paramount
2) Ringside IMF tech
3) everlast protex2

which do you think is better, and why?

platinum paramount. it has the advanced wrist strap like on the rival and has been highly regarded around here. the mesh palm helps too.

Which Rivals did you get? It sounds like the RB1s...

Among the three you mention one has been almost uniformly well received and has been reviewed quite a bit around the web and that is 2).

Rival's wrist look like a nice system but the inside of the glove look cheapo and like it will tear quick.

I use Windy and they are just amazing, but everybody has a different feel. I know that Rival and Fairtex have good wrist support.
