The Fairtex BGV9's get a lot of love here, and deservedly so, but the recent "minor change" updated version is, overall, a step backward. With increased padding on the front, they are horribly weight balanced, being very knuckle heavy. The padding is still dense, but the increased thickness numbs the punch contact, at least compared to the nice feedback the old model gave.

Are there any vendors still selling the old model Fairtex BGV9? Especially, any vendors selling this model with a variety of colors? I think MMA industries is one, but they have a small selection of colors.

I've got 2 pairs, but the unused pair is 12oz, been planning on selling them but just not got round to it, I am in the UK though.

Muaythai-fighting.com might have some old ones in stock, they are pretty quick to respond to emails usually

Hope you find a pair, they are lovely gloves

Thanks, Muchetto. I just emailed muay thai fighting (where I recently bought the minor changes version). Hoping they'll have a couple of the old model available.

Careful of MMA Industries. Don't get me wrong....they are a great site to deal with....just sometimes their pics are outdated. When I bought Twins it was the white label....they sent the brand new black labels which was great......but I am just letting you know since you are looking for an older model of glove. Let me add also that their shipping is damn fast too. Like I said....great site!!!!

No probs, it's a real shame that they updated, but it's great to hear some honest feed back on them. I wasn't to keen on the pics of the new versions, even the hook and loop looks differen from the pics? They looked like they lost the 'reyes' style look a bit too!

Good luck looking, I hope you find a pair :)

Thanks for the info, Taskmaster. I bought my first bgv9's from MMA industries. They do ship fast, but I think the gloves were sitting around for a while. The leather and smell of the newer ones I bought from muaythai-fighting (made to order) were great, besides the changes to the design.

Thanks! The hook and loop is different. This is a neutral change. I can't say I prefer the loop design one way or the other. Newer model on the right.

Here are more pictures in case anyone else wanted to see the models. New version is the all white glove. Both are 16oz.

Thanks for posting some pics, after seeing some proper comparison pics I've actually changed my mind a bit on the look, they look great! I'm a sucker for white gloves!!

So if they don't perform aswell that's a real shame.

I have the old model in 16oz and 12oz, the 12's actually feel heavier than the 16's when I try them on?!

I also prefer the older model, I like the old style wrist strap and just the overall feel a bit better. I like the new one also, but if I were buying a 3rd pair, Id get the old style.

try:

muay thai mma shop (dot) com

Amp, the owner is really cool and he responds to emails quickly. He also ahs fast and reasonably priced shipping to the US. Email him and ask him if he has any old model bgv9s.
