A lot of you probably know the guy from his heated staredown with Bakocevic before destroying him:

He had a lot of momentum after that and got quite the push from KSW. He went on to fight one more time after that in April 2017 and won by UD. He was supposed to fight in Oct. 2017 but pulled out and kinda disappeared. All his interviews are in polish or chechen so if anyone knows one of those languages and/or has a clue if he has given an update I'd appreciate the help.

He was supposed to walk through Erbst, and that fight showed just how good Erbst is.

No idea where he went.

Hey guys is there anyone from Poland here? I wanted to ask, is there like any story in media or in mma community about how Azhiev ended up in Poland?
I've seen Russian people wrote that his older brother joined terrorists (Al-Nusra Front), Anzor was interrogated/tortured (and maybe also kidnapped) and after that decided to leave Chechnya. I also remember that I've seen a few years ago on social media Chechen guys were asking why Anzor is not fighting in Russia and some guy answered (I think he knows Anzor) that it's because he can't leave Poland because he is in the process of receiving his citizenship. I thought it sounded strange since he was living in Poland for a few years already, but if news about brother is true, you can understand why he doesn't want to fight in Russia or sign with Russian promotions.

So there is article with interview with Rustam Azhiev (Islamist dude) and they mention that his younger brother is mma fighter Anzor Azhiev https://theintercept.com/2016/09/03/in-turkey-a-chechen-commander-makes-plans-for-war-in-syria/
Is there any chance that guys like Anzor or John Gotti III will be signed by big american promotions like UFC or Bellator (I mean, guys who didn't commit any crimes but has famous criminal relatives)?

The UFC really don't background check their signees that thoroughly. This very year they signed Timo Feulch but then cut him when the media revealed that he has ties with neo-nazi gangs (and this is not the first time this has happened). Anzor is of course another example since he personally seem to have caused no crime. But I suspect the UFC wouldn't want the heat.

Uhhh... aren't there like... journalist ethics about not divulging information like this which could put a third-party in danger?o_O

Well, I think maybe Chechens know that two (kinda) famous Azhiev guys are related and Chechen government are not interested in interrogating him or something. Polish government probably are aware of that story. So, maybe only some people from Syria would want to hurt Rustam's relatives for his actions in Syria, but I think there is not a lot of Syrians in Poland. Or maybe Anzor doesn't hide such info. Or maybe he/his manager doesn't speak English and is not aware of such articles.

that would be wild if true.

Thought that he just wasn`t that much into personally fighting anymore and instead prefered to train other fighters. If I am not mistaken he is the personal MMA trainer of Pudzianowskis brother and generally helps other fighters at WCA Warsaw out, in their fight camps.

His younger brother Mansur is an interesting prospect but also fighting only in polish organizations.
Generally I think its a bit weird that besides Aslambek Saidov there are basically no polish chechen fighters fighting in russian organizations. Most of them arent elite fighters or so, but with ACAs ties in Poland, they easily could get a fight there, like shaman erzanukaev who made his pro debut on an ACA Poland card.
