i have a fight jan 12, when should i stop working out? i lift, run, do that bas rutten workout, hit pads, and spar...when do i need to cut that stuff out?

you dont?

but don't push yourself when lifting and all that, cause you odn't want to come in sore when a fight comes.

cut out the lifting the week of fight but keep up everything else up especiall if you have to make weight

The secret to a good taper is maintaining the intensity of the workout while lowering the volume. It would probably be more effective to ask this question in the conditioning forum.

lifting: some ppl say a week some say 2 weeks before a fight. muscular strength needs a long time to develop anyways so you won't gain any strength.

running: keep jogging i would say even on fight week. you should probably go for a 20 min run a few days before the fight just because cardiovascular seems like one of those things that improve and decrease the easiest.

Definitely. After a four day break from wrestling practice around Christmas time, nearly the entire team's conditioning was below it's normal level. Run during the week of the fight, but I don't know if you should run the day before your fight or not, someone more experienced will know.

i know guys who have just to try to lose last minute weight since weighin's on the same day as the fight. you have to do it without drinking water untill the weigh in too which is pretty much torture. so if you are 2 pounds over the limit, you might consider doing that.

I think you should cut out all the weights now and dont make your workouts LONG to the point where you're sore from them....just up the intensity and cut down the duration now. All the WORK has been dont up to this point now you're in just maitenance mode for the last week until the fight.
First i want 2 say this all my 2 cents but's it's seemed to work for me. I usually cut down the duration like i said ^^ and then the two days before the fight i do NOTHING (10th and 11th) in your case EXCEPT on the 11th i do something REAL fast to just WIND myself really good lke im gasping for air then QUIT and rest the rest of the day. Like maybe a 3min "fast feet and sprawl drill" dont know what you call it. Then that's good just to let your lungs remember so they dont forget. and the 9th should be a light day nothing TOO hard...if you've been working out like a beast by the time you have sat around for 2 days you're ready to kill someone when fight time comes...especially if you've been working out three times at day up to that point etc...
Just something to think about.....but OVERall YOU know you're body and how much rest you need and what is too much just make sure you're fresh come fight day.

I would NOT run the day before the fight...what good is that going to do you it takes a good 48hours for your muscles to recover fully?? I wouldnt do it...if you need to lose a last couple of pounds sweat it out IN THE SAUNA.....SAUNAs suck but so does being tired the day of your fight because you ran the sweat out of you so SIT AND SWEAT it out if you need to...my weigh ins are the day of the fight and i do cut weight but i would never run the day before my fight and i LIKE running lol...its actually hard to make yourself relax if you ask me....but you need to be fresh. AGAIN...sweat it out in the sauna if its the day before you still need ot make weight....and Peidalite if your friend lol..
