When did you get "smartened up" ?

Tbf that one isn't too bad. At least the other chick doesn't sell it. The worst ones are when they miss by a mile and everyone acts like it hit.

My dad smartened me up before introducing me to watching wrestling on TV. He also told me how fake boxing was.

I'm so glad I made this thread. For responses like this

First intro was around 1970 watching Vince on the Spanish channel, IIRC 47, all dubbed in Spanish.

Vince was an announcer, don't have a clue who it was for. Bruno Sammartino was the Champion was mentoring Larry Zabisco, contenders were Classy Freddie Blassie, Iron Sheik, Baron Von Rashky' Iron Claw, Buddy Rogers, Pampiro Firpo, that pretty much is all remembered.

Later on was IRC NWA? with Wahoo McDaniels (watch out for his War Dance) Ricky the Dragon Steamboat, Tully? Blanchard, Tony Garea, Dean Ho, and of course HW Champion "The Nature Boy" Ric Flair & the 4 Horsemen - Paul Jones, Ole & Arn Anderson, surely a bunch forgotten.

Will say the Ultimate Non-PC time was around 2000. Vince's character was a mean pervy boss, don't think he had to reach far, no stretch from how he has always appeared.

I had the opposite problem.

Before I even seen any wrestling all the adults told me "wrestling is fixed/fake, you don't want to watch that". So not realising they were fucking idiots, I thought most people didn't know and had to watch and figure out its appeal myself.
