I used to love this show in the 10s n late 00s. It waa a better version of survivor I always thought . Tried watching the last few years and I cant get through but a few episodes. Trying to think wwtber tbe show just got worse or I just got tired of it?

It was interesting for the first half-dozen seasons, but producer interference ruined the game a long time ago. Casting became terrible, too.

Most of those reality television shows are shit. Survivor use to catch my interest, but they overplayed it. It became saturated.

Not much of a fan of it TBH. The UK "celebrity" version (I have no idea who this guy is) had this though. Just absolute comedic perfection.

We used to have a seasonal threads for discussion, but it’s been a while

I stopped watching the show several years back

Think the casting went to shit and players are not as entertaining as they once were

I stopped watching after they did the all stars season (S21?) and wasn’t catching the feeds for 2 or so seasons before that.

So can’t speak to whether it dropped off since then. I think so long as it had the feeds, it has something super unique compared to other shows because you can cut through the narrative production creates for the most part.

Trying to remember what my cons were for the seasons I watched. Wanna say most of it was casting. The show usually seemed like it would talk about a diverse cast as lip service but constantly tried to cast stereotypes or specific personalities for each person. You needed a blonde the audience would love (Jordan, Nicole, etc), a flamboyant gay guy, a Jersey person (Enzo). One other thing I may be way off base here on (let me know if you thought it too) was they would intentionally cast black male houseguests who weren’t as competitive or agressive I would say. Like Devon may have been the closest exception but even he was this soft spoken guy (Howard too very athletic but calm demeanor). I think the show did this to avoid the possibility of airing some scenes of an angry black player causing drama in the house but seemed pretty fucked up if that was the case. Davonne came later in the seasons I watched and was super popular. This is true with the gay casted player as well. Always flamboyant, you would think every gay guy acts that way. And just any stereotype area, they had to play their role (Judd is southern, we get it).

I don’t know. Dumb rant but I think that show had a big opportunity to really mix up the cast every year and be a true social experiment but because it was network cable, they just chose this fake artificial diversity while stereotyping every cast member. There was lots of opportunity to look at different age groups, religions, etc but that went away after the early seasons when they barely did it (though the game rules improved)

Paul. Hilarious he lost twice, though I might’ve hated Josh winning more as that dude seemed like a dunce too.

Netflix did a US version of “Inside” and it kinda feels like a more carefree big brother. They are in the place for a week, do Comps, some random luck on who is eliminated at times so less strategy. I’ve liked it so far. The previous series they had was The Circle which sucked.

Waa worth Josh winning seeing Paul stomp thru the house right after pouting.

What was second place? 50k? If so, the guy made 100k hanging out in a house all summer. Did he lose to a vet in his season? I can’t remember who it was. Thought it was Dan but that’s not right.

He lost to Nicole, not sure if that was Nicole’s first or second time on the show

Definitely not the first. Wanna say it was her third. The show loved her and kept bringing her back.
