Movies What's your all-time favorite movie?

Being a - how do the kids say it? - a basic bitch of cinema, got to give it to The Shawshank Redemption.

Braveheart, Conan the Barbarian, Fight Club, Dirty Harry (1st), Rocky, The Bridges of Madison County, The Outlaw Josey Wales, and Unforgiven all spring to mind for being in the running... But I keep returning to Shawshank. It takes #1.

I know it's extremely hard to narrow down to one.

But if you were forced to pick one. Which would it be?

I'd say it would be either Back to the Future or Aliens.

I'd say Aliens.

Reason is because I watched it more than any other movie.

Not a bad pick. But I think I'd go terminator 2. Then again it's a hard question. Because you should categorise them down to the genres. It's difficult to compare aliens - an action movie, to say something like the green mile.

It's hard to pick between these 3 for me: The Prestige, T2, Shawshank.

It changes all the time, right now i'd prob pick prestige as my favorite.

I liked better tomorrow and killer way more
no way
killer is no where close
a the chemistry betwixt RunFa and Danny ain't no here as good as tequila and Alan

the tacky girl story with being blinded

the final church shoot out
none of it comes close to the highs of hard boiled

hard boiled has the better gun fights
tea house, warehouse and hospital are almost untouchable

Anthony Wong is the coolest HK villain actor from that time and he owns the movie

Phillip kwok steals the show when he is on as mad dog (like trejo in desperado)

I love the soundtrack

also the gun smuggling plot and the undercover system with the HK triad takeover is dope

a better tomorrow is one of my favorites too

but the melodramatic aspects of the storyline with the young cop and it all makes it a step behind Hard boiled

that being said
of course the image of run fa smoking with a little hkd is worth the price if admission alone

also the hit in the KTV is one of my favorite scenes ever

I thought the story was better in better tomorrow and the killer had great intensity with their action scenes. Hard boiled was good but it was way over hyped for me.

I did laugh really hard when the baby pees on him

Right now it's Drive My Car. A nice movie about loss and regret.

I also liked the behind the scenes theater aspect of the movie as well, where the play Uncle Vanya encompasses the whole movie. Even though something similar was done in Marriage Story and Tick Tick Boom, it manifested in this movie better.

It depends on where you are in your life. "All time favorite" is probably There Will Be Blood because I think it's a near-perfect movie and the character relationships resonated with me at the time. But 10 years earlier I probably would have found it boring and just some stupid western melodrama.

All time wow factor, it's a three-way tie between Predator, Rocky IV and T2. But that's on account of me being a kid/teen and while no movie will ever wow me like those did at the time, would never say those are better movies than TWBB.
