What's the relationship between a single, high crotch, fireman's carry?

Help me get my wrestling terminology straight as I struggle with my noobness of trying to learn it:

Single - central penetration... I think there are two finishes? A regular and high single? I only know of the high single where you step back and hike the leg

high crotch - outside penetration, aim is to control hips, and dump

fireman's carry - central pentration, need to control their arm in the tieup before going for this. Failing/losing arm control, can fallback to a high crotch

This about right?

There are many, many, many finishes to a single leg. Besides the one you have you can twist and shrug, lift up to the ceiling so he goes off his other foot, inside trip, outside trip, switch to a double, etc, etc etc. I like to do outside penetration for the single leg.

My hi-c is entered a lot like a double. I might use a different setup, tho. I often switch t oa fireman's carry or a double off of it.

That's mostly correct for the fireman's carry. You can do a "far side" fireman's carry by faking the inside, which everyone expects.

High Single Leg-Outside Penetration, make sure you shoot in correctly so you don't get wizzered. Also, keep dominate head positioning. Head positioning is a VERY important thing in all of wrestling. There are SO many finishes to the High Single. I typically like to try the easiest which is the dum or run the pipe, same thing maybe the dump variant where you grab there foot thats behind you and dump em'. Doubling off is a good easy, high percentage option as well. You can also set up a snatch single where no penetration is needed you simply whack their shoulder.

Low Single Leg-Aim low, obviously, ALWAYS shoot in with your head to the INSIDE of their leg! On good opponents you're probably going to have to reshoot. You can also spin behind the, cut there knee and block there foot to get the takedown.

High-Crotch-Same penetration as a double. My FAVORITE set-up that works great for me on the High Crotch is the simple elbow pull. It's just like the double, but instead of dealing with all your opponents power, you're only dealing with half. You seize their lead leg, always lace their leg. I typically double off, but alot of better more experienced guys will block your elbow making it hard to double off. In those cases I'll use the crackdown.

Fireman's Carry-The most important part of this takedown is the penetration. If you're far away from your opponent, it'll never work. You want to be pretty much under your opponent. You shouldn't even need their leg to finish the move. Get both your knees under him and flip em' over. Or you can just get him on your shoulders and sit as well. Whatever you'd like. Also the near arm far leg is similiar to this takedown.

Remember to ALWAYS look through your shots too.

You a Pennsylvania wrestler?

well, I had an answer ready but looks like it has been covered pretty well. Good to see wrestlers on here that are not the WWE type.

actually whenever we do a single we pen to the outside and turn the corner for double w do center

high crotch is inside step not outside, most important thing when finishing a high crotch is to keep your head up and turn the corner.

crackdown - you shoot high crotch the guy sprawls so you take the leg you have to the mat put your opponent on his but. Finishes are head hunt to cradle, russian granby, finish by hipping over, etc..

Hey what's the name of that wrestling coach who trains at CGS sometimes? I met him on a Saturday practice there, and he's a good wrestler.

Yeah, there's a few good wrestlers down CGS. The one who coaches Jeanette HS is Jeremy Wolf. He's very good.

Oh, my coaches didn't call it crackdown, but now that I think about it I don't think they called it anything.

hey shred fighter what's crackdown?

All what kidrobot said are great options for when an opponent trys to defend by sprawling. However, what I know as the crackdown is when your opponent blocks your elbow so it's hard to double off, so you pull on their leg rotate your hips in a counter clockwise direction and pressure your shoulder into them.

Another key to takedowns is having a solid shot. Good posture is VERY important. What my coach always says when were doing stance and motion drilling is Head Up Butt Down Knees Bent Elbows in. LoL! And remember having good takedown defense is also important in the wrestling game. If you have good defense you can turn your defense into your offense as well and work yourself a takedown from there.
