What's exactly the reason Zhang Wheili is so inactive?

I really like her and find her style exciting like many people but it really annoys me how inactive she is.

She usually post dumb shit on instagram not related to fighting or just some training clips.

It seems people forget she also exists, unlike guys like Islam and Khabib that would get crucified for being inactive despite numerous injuries, unlike Zhang.

Her division doesn't seems interesting either so it might be a factor for the lack of hype but still, I hate this trend of champs fighting once per year.

Since Chinese government pay their athletes to train and stuff I doubt their is much motivation to be active as possible, she probably pockets all her money.

It is a combination of stuff. There’s the usual stuff like injuries. I think last year she did a Chinese movie called after typhoon which she was a star and that took up a bunch of her time. I think there’s some issues with her getting her VISA to come into the states. Plus for a real long time China was under super heavy Covid restrictions and that really affected her training. I believe she had to move to Thailand and started training there for a while. I think that’s where she’s mainly located. She went there with our whole team.

I remember she literally had to meet with a US Senator Tulsi Gabbard in order to get a visa to fight in the state one time. Also, for a while she was sitting out waiting for a 125 title shot against Valentina Shevchenko.

Also, the UFC is trying to expand in the Chinese market and Weili has kind of become MMA spokesperson within the country so they want to use our strategically. I know back during the pandemic they wanted to have Weili headline of pay-per-view in Asia against Rose. I think she was supposed to headline the Singapore card, but Covid scratch that they couldn’t get it done. And they try to get her in with high Chinese populations like New York City. I think that’s the reason why she was on the last Australia card because Australia has a very high Chinese population. Also, I think they’ve been trying to schedule a fight in China with Weili and have been saving her for that for a while, but things haven’t lined up. I remember over the past couple years a bunch of China cards got canceled last minute and had to be moved to the Apex or shifted over to Korea.


To summarize I don’t think it’s anyone but a combination of things all working together

I have a theory why they can't get this fight......Dane told Islam and Ilia they couldn't get champ champ status..........that's exactly what Weili wants.....so she won't defend the 115 belt until they book her for the 125 title against Valentina......but they can't let her get the champ champ status after just shittin on Islam amd ilia....especially being a woman they'd be willing to give this opportunity to...and yet they don't wanna strip her of her 115 title....they've created a monster they cant control when fighters.....especially champs just won't do what they want them to do. So do they strip her for not defending the 115 title and force her to move to 125 like they did Islam and ilia!!???

Not sure what her travel status is, or how worried her totalitarian government is about her asking someplace for asylum where she'd be free to keep and spend a bigger portion of the fight purses she makes. But I'm guessing is she's not available for all events.

Kind of like how it used to be with Cuba and their best baseball and boxing athletes.

Would be interesting to know if the reason she ain's more active is her personally, CPC or UFC. Took million years to get the Yan fight booked which should have been a no-brainer (belt stays in Chinese market) etc... a pity, cause she has so far not failed to entertain (except when Rose laid on her, the short time Rose 1 went on was cool, tho - HEADKICK!) - but because Dana has not complained, CPC must be involved in some way or another.

Not using her on China card is weird. Sounds like a no-brainer which would make all three parties happy.

Oh well. Maybe she on her way out to better things like movies and whatnot.
