UFC 274 Olivera vs Gatehje and UFC 276 Adesanya vs Cannonier both sold 400,000 buys… Are they tied for the highest PPVs for the year?

Canelo vs Bivol did 550k sales for boxing.

Decent chance UFC 280 will break PPV records for 2022 if they do a decent press tour.

UFC really needs the next Ronda,Conor,Brock soon . 400k as most is pathetic.

UFC 272 Masvidal vs. Covington.. can't find how many PPV buys that did but I imagine it's up there

Roughly 400k too apparently.

There were a bunch of articles that came out saying 274 was the highest selling PPV so far and that was after Masvidal/Covington.

So unless one of the PPVs after 274 broke 400k it’s the highest tied with 276

With those weak numbers I would be embarrassed myself in saying I sold "more" than others lol. But some people just have low standards for themselves.

PPV is dying, the UFC is making more money now than they ever have been regardless. Huge streaming deals is the future. They expected Canelo vs Bivol to break 1m and it only did 550k. Boxing has started concealing and padding statistics by counting sky sports subscriptions as "PPV buys" because they want to make Joshua vs Usyk and such fights seem like they were bigger successes than they actually were too.

UFC doesn't do a good job promoting cards or fighters, they really just promote their brand itself, there's a lack of star power but most PPV cards are shallow now and there's a lack of momentum when it comes to the UFC these days along with a lack of star power.

Yep. Here in Brazil they will change the model for 2023. They made a deal with a new network to air 12 events live on open television and the rest is going to the UFC Fight Pass, so no more PPV.

The numbers are not weak and PPV is not dying, in fact, 2021 was a record year. Keep in mind the # of events has increased dramatically over the years, there is a UFC PPV event at least every month. Also consider the price went from $50 to $75.

I still think it's Gaethje/Olives at 440K domestically and 500K worldwide.

To put that into perspective, Canelo/Bivol only did 550K.

PPVs are down across the board during inflation.

The days of cracking a million buys twice a year are likely over no matter who they have. The watered down rankings, the glut of events every week, and the ESPN+ model kind of broke PPV.

People talk about 400k like its a bad number nowadays even though the UFC didnt hit that until like 2006, and that was when PPVs were cheaper and it was harder to watch shit without paying.

Doesn't matter because any of the next 3 PPVs will take that spot. They're all solid.
