Just curious what was the first fight that captivated you, that you had to see live?

For me, it was when Tito fought Randy in late '03. It seemed like a great good guy vs. bad story arc at that time.

After watching that fight, I was hooked.

The personalities of TUF 1. Particularly Diego, Koscheck and Leben. Got interested in following their journeys and got into the actual fighting along the way.

Was very very casual, until a poker night at a buddies, they stopped the poker game to have the PPV on, it was exciting then became a fan, it was Anderson Silva vs Travis Lutter at UFC 67.
The last few years, i haven't watched as much, just the big main events

The first actual MMA fight I remember watching was Randy Couture vs Vitor Belfort. I remember seeing clips of Vitor Belfort destroying people online, and then a full fight video of Belfort against some dude named Randy Couture came out. I fully expected Vitor to destroy him, only to watch Couture expertly dismantle him. That surprised me and hooked me on MMA.

But I didn't start really following MMA regularly until like 2002.

Dan Severn vs Anthony Macias ... because I had watched Severn for years in wrestling and I was so hyped to see him fight in Ultimate Fighting, I had been to some of his US wrestling matches and I had VHS tapes of his wrestling tournaments in Russia, Turkey and Bulgaria, he took them all to school and wrestled them to death, and I couldn't believe he was coming to fighting and I knew he would be the UFC champion because no one would be close to his skill level and experience. Little did I know he would go on to have over 100 wins in MMA and win 36 MMA belts in many different orgs.

:D :D I remember I made a $30 bet with my work friend at UFC 5 because he thought Oleg Taktarov was the man and he told me about this deadly art called Sambo. LOL I was like please bet me and I won 30 easily, Severn beat him to near death, took him down easily, cut his face to shreds, so much blood. Great memories. I rented UFC 5 VHS from Blockbuster after that like so many times.

I missed UFC 1 and 2, didn't know nothing about it, I only found out about UFC because of Blockbuster, I was looking to rent WWF King of the Ring 1993 VHS and Summerslam 1993 VHS and I randomly saw UFC 1, 2 and 3 VHS next to the WWF and I thought it looked interesting and picked it up. Then when I found out Severn would be in UFC 4 I was hooked

My friend showed me Chuck vs Rampage 1 from Pride

I knew a bit about the UFC and Chuck in the early 2000s and was casually discussing it with my friend who was a hardcore MMA/Pride fan and Chuck/UFC hater. He was so happy to show me Chuck getting his ass kicked. I loved Rampage and joined him as a Pride stan.

I’m jealous….wish I had friends well aware of Taktarov back then …. Amazing

My buddy and I rented the first UFC tape from our small town video store. They would sometimes just get random videos and this happened to be one of them. we both loved fighting games, boxing and wrestling, tried out for the wrestling team together, so when we saw this video tape we had to rent it.

The first fight I ever watched was Royce Gracie vs Minoki Ichihara.

The second fight I ever watched was Patrick Smith vs Scott Morris.

That was the UFC hype machine in full effect even back in the old days, because when Taktarkov choked out that guy in his first UFC fight they kept going on about this mysterious Russian man with this unstoppable Sambo art form lol, my friend was convinced he was like unbeatable, we was watching it together and then he wanted to bet which was a terrible idea for him, I was so confident Severn would wipe the floor with him, his wrestling was on another star system.

I miss those days man, so much fun. Thanks for Blockbuster.

Fedor vs Big Nog I think the 2nd fight where Fedor ground and pounds the shit out of Nog. Watching those hammers drop was so mesmerizing.

mine wasn't a particular fighter but the spectacle of it all.
The place I worked at for my first job sold magazines and always included a few oddities in the mix, one of those was a UFC magazine that was basically a full recap of UFC 1 and I would go straight to it when working evening shifts.
UFC 2 arrived on VHS at my local rental store and i've been watching since.

Started watching the ultimate fighter. But the fight that got me to start training was shogun vs lil nog pride critical countdown 2005
