What the hell was that? (Hill given the belt before winner announced)

Dude he almost killed Texiera in there, it’s not like there was any question who won, as soon as the unanimous decision of 50-44 was read just give the man his belt, tf is wrong with you
 
Probably to cull the inevitable fears of the worst Brazilian robbery in UFC history.

I was pretty worried until they put that belt on him.
 
I'll give an unlikely hypothetical, but one that exists regardless (and something you could still actually see in some run down shitfest MMA promotion, probably in Russia)

Fighter A batters Fighter B as bad as Hill did to Glover. Scores get collected, ref is preparing to raise the winner's hand. Before they're read, Fighter A just turns and starts hitting Fighter B. Maybe a bit of a shit talking escalated. Fighter A doesn't listen to the ref trying to stop him.

Ref can, and arguably should, DQ Fighter A, resulting in Fighter B being declared the winner.


I mean, we've seen KO'd opponents win matches via the 'winner' being DQ'd after the action. It happens. Like I said, ref is in control of the action until the end is in the books.

I just saw a clip of something like that the other day. (Not sure when the fight happened)

It was an MMA fight.

Ref stepped in to stop in, people were still swinging and got upset and then the winning dude I think hit either the ref or the other guy WAY ,WAY after the stoppage.

They ruled it a DQ and raised the losers hand.

Also in the case of front flip mcgee, the heavyweight who knocked out his opponent, then used his prone back as a launching point for his celebration. DQ'ed.
