just bought this yesterday from Fry's. I was shocked to see how cheap it was at $180... but then later, I found out that Fluke started manufacturing in China. Still decent quality, though.

Fluke 117

I've had a few Flukes throughout the years, but now I'm only down to my Fluke 902, T5-600 and my recently purchased 117.

I maintain that I like goth chicks and have no idea what a multimeter is.

I tried to educate myself as to what a multimeter is by watching the video but after 30 seconds of that guy's voice I wanted to kill something.

I watchd the vid to see if you were correct, and I now long for death's sweet embrace over another second of his voice.

This is my day to day meter

^^^ So it some kind probe? For anuses? I'll watch the rest of that guy's vid if anuses get probed in it.

^ You could actually use it to measure the resistance of someones ass with it funny enough.

You're on fire, brah.

Somebody stick a multimeter in this guy's anus, cause he's always on!

*watches rest of the video on the off-chance of ass-probing*

I used a 117 at my previous jobs. Solid and reliable.

meters are handy, everyone should own one. You can buy one for cheap, as long as it measures AC/DC and continuity

I have a 10 dollar one I use to measure AC/DC and continuity and it does the job. I dont even know what the other features do

An inexpensive digital one from Wal Mart, but I only use it for basic electrical work. The most serious I ever got with it was recapping an antique radio.

This is an honest question- is there really a performance difference between those and Flukes?

Yes. Cheap meters are inaccurate and dangerous

Is it a practical difference that you'll notice and employ as useful, or a theoretical one that people are apt to discuss and dissect on internet forums, but never really means shit when the rubber hits the road?
Ahh, OK you added a vid. That explains it a bit more. I'll watch it in detail.
