in interviews at some point the interviewer usually asks you what are your weaknesses, areas you could work on or need work on; i am curious what are your answers when applying..for those w/jobs, what were your answers.

"Sometimes I'm TOO ambitious and will want to do more work than I should. I tend to overwork."

lol

what the fuck else can you say?

"To not have the ability to answer this question"

Pretty much said that at my last interview. Got the job.

Hate those stupid questions.

Yeah this is the stock answer, but everyone knows it's complete BS...any interviewer that can't see through that is an idiot you probably don't want to be working for anyway.

Just be honest. Maybe I'm crazy, but as a prospective employer, I'd rather see someone being honest than bullshitting me.

Of course don't play it up...talk about a small weakness and what you've done to address it and how it really won't affect anyone's bottom line...you'll be fine.

Trannies

The last time I answered that question seriously I went with the "I'm a real team player and like to include as many team mates as I can, which can sometimes slow down the process/decision making. Its better to do it right, than hurry and make a mistake".

I usually give an honest answer like "Well, I tend to get a little nervous when I take on new responsibilities even though I appear confident. I've been working on that over the years though. I find keeping things into perspective and working out during my lunch hour calms me down"

edit: here's another good one (which is true in my case): I tend to get bored when things become too repetitive. In my younger days, I would quit jobs entirely and travel for a few months and then feel the need to settle down. I found that to be detrimental to my career so I had to find ways to take care of my boredom. So now I tend to take on new tasks, or I network with other departments to see if they need me to work on projects with them to, you know, get the juices flowing in my brain. Another thing I find is if I change things up outside of work such as moving apartments every 2nd year and/or start new personal projects or activities then that also takes care of that. Right now I am seeking stability in my career however.

" I'm not a great interviewer." Said that once and got the job.

My testicles. If you hit me in my testicles I'll go down.

Sometimes that's actually true and the only correct answer I could give, but wouldn't because it sounds such BS.

I'm too nice and always want to help people.

Last time I was asked this, I think I said "When I'm explaining something to someone, I often end up doing the work myself." I didn't get the job, but that definitely wasn't the reason.

I'd say "Honestly, I don't know how to answer that question - and if I could answer it I would consider that a weakness. It's not that I see myself as perfect, it's just that I prefer to focus in terms of the person I want to become rather than the person I want to avoid being."

Of course there's a decent chance the guy interviewing you will be threatened by that answer, especially if he's a corporate middle-management type and not the owner of the company.

I tend to be a perfectionist and I often times will put those expectations on my coworkers, so I tend to be pretty critical of them (internally at least). I struggle to realize that I need to back off on what I expect of other people...

LOL thats pretty much always been my answer too. What do they expect you to say "Well im lazy, and when unsupervised I tend to just sleep"

I've always just said that I'm a perfectionist, I'm very hard on myself when I don't perform the way I feel I should be able to.

It's a no bs answer as the jobs I've had to perform (especially my current job) require me to be very thorough, as mistakes are a huge hassle and potentially expensive.

I have a very low tolerance for stupid interview questions....

Seriously though... I usually dodge the question by mentioning something that I used to be somewhat weak at... but that I have since improved a lot in... and then outline what I did to improve.

It's not a weakness though!!

If you respond to me that way in an interview I'm going to label you as a bullshitter, and I'm going to ask you to answer the question again...this time choosing an actual weakness.

Actually I would never actually ask that question, just sayin'.
