They were my favorite insect to rescue from.the wild when I was young. They were kept well fed with grasshoppers I'd catch and if a female laid an egg sack I put the branch back in the wild...

A Mantis would also mess a spider up.

I was fishing and I heard a yelp- and it was a giant water beetle eating a frog. Ive never heard that kind of scream and I pulled it off it and we kept it for a bit, it was huge.

Crazy. I saw a giant water bug feasting on a painted turtle. They've been known to eat old and sickly ducks.

They have a pretty nasty bite.
