I find myself reminiscing about MMA, with really all that is left of the past era all but gone, with Fedor fighting for the last time this weekend, I wonder, what do you think was the greatest thread of all time?
It's obviously very objective, but personally my pick is Timmy will get zulu'ed thread.
Someone actually called Tim getting zulued on Sherdog. Nowadays, it's easy to point to say, hey it was obvious, but hell no it wasn't.
The pro's pick, which Sherdog used to do, favored Fedor, but it wasn't a blow out either. It was more people thinking Fedor would use his grappling to win, but Tim was respected. By pros that is. I think Tim was one of the most hated, but perhaps it was evened by the presence of Goober.
It was a Nostradamus-eque predicion on a very first UFC vs PRIDE mega fight, you could argue, because Fedor was the best HW out of PRIDE, and Timmy was, in my opinion, out of UFC. I know he lost to Couture, but no one mentions how Timmy fought injured. Only guy to this very date, 15 years later, who fought with a pre-existing back injury, which was serious enough for him to consider pulling out, then ACTUALLY had a back surgery right after the fight. I know lots of people give excuses, but how many people get a BACK SURGERY right after the fight other than Tim? No one.
I knew it was terrible idea to fight Mercer too, who was probably better boxer than most UFC fighters even at that age, but I digress.
Perhaps people don't see it, but personally, it just left a lasting impression on me, and the Timmy will get zulued thread for me, is the greatest thread of all time on Sherdog. Well, at least since 2005 for me.
What is YOUR greatest thread of all time?
Honorable mention; Crazy Horse got arrested and one of Sherbros was going to do a live update because he worked in a jail or prison that he was locked up at. That got deleted faster than I could think, but I really wish that materialized. It had so much potential.
