What is the all-time best animated sitcom not intended for children?

South Park. It's peak was longer than the Simpson's. It's very clever and satires so much effectively it's become underrated in a way.
Just curious where you consider South Park's peak to end?
Personally I think The Simpsons started declining after season 11 or 12, and there is no way SP had that long a great run. SP for me starts rapidly declining after season 7.
But I would much, much rather watch an SP episode now that any of the last 10 years of Simpsons trash.
It was not. It was considered way more mature and unsavory when it first aired. It looks benign today when its compared to a lot of the "adult cartoons" that followed though. The Simpsons wasn't intended for children?

These shows have generally gotten better over the years, but The Simpsons did open the door. Fox took a chance and did something that hadn't been done before. Shows like Beavis and Butthead and South Park blew the door open much wider though.South Park eclipsed The Simpsons.
Rick & Morty has put out the best three seasons of any show so far. It's arguably the best show on TV, period.
The humor was never really geared towards kids. It was an intentionally more mature brand of humor for an animated series. Although, every kid I knew did watch it, so you do have a point there.Wasn:t it controversial because it was intended for kids though? Like parents thought it was a bad influence on their kids?
