What does PPV points translate to in terms of what the fighter would get? Percentage of PPV sales?

A percentage of the money made from the amount of people who buy the PPV.

I think the fighter gets a dollar amount of every ppv sold. I remember overeem getting $2 a ppv against brock.

A fixed dollar amount for every ppv buy between a and b, then another fixed dollar amount between b and c, then another fixed dollar amount between c and d

usually the dollar amounts increases as the number of buys goes higher

Pursuant to the terms of Overeem's UFC contract as outlined in the complaint, he is guaranteed a "bout fee" of $264,285 on Dec. 30. Should he defeat Lesnar, Overeem would receive an additional $121,428 "win bonus." Overeem is also in line to receive a $2 pay-per-view bonus per viewer, "for all revenues received by UFC-Zuffa for telecast of the Lesnar fight in the United States, Canada or over the internet in excess of $500,000."

each ppv gets 3 pts for each dec, 5 for each sub, and 7 for each KO on the card.
all points are added and multiplied by 30K$ which is then divided between the main and co-main eventers

Certain high level guys get cuts, it basically works out as:

Less than 100,000 buys: No money
100,000-175,000 buys: $1.00/buy
175,000-300,000 buys: $1.50/buy
300,000-330,000 buys: $2.00/buy
Over 330,000 buys: $3.00/buy

That is extremely old data from 2007. The fighters make a much better cut then that now. The new Anderson Silva and Chael Sonnen deals are probably double what you see there.

how are you so sure sonnen has a ppv deal?

dana said he doesn't and i'm inclined to agree given that chael isn't a champ nor is he some new mega free agent signing.

he most likely gets a hefty discretionary bonus that might compare to ppv points, but i dont think he actually has that clause in his contract

Chael is the biggest draw outside of GSP. He draws more views then Jones and silva believe it for not. I know he isn't the Champ buy he is paid very well. You may be right about him not having points per say... I can't say I know other then everyone clamor to fight him due to the PPV numbers always being higher with him...

old. but as a basis not too far off from some people. But GSP and a few others probably get way more than that.

Overeem.

btw quick math with Canadian HD price says 8333 PPVs before reem gets $2

Alvarez
A tiered share of pay-per-view revenue, starting at "$1 for each ‘buy' between 200,000 and 400,000 buys, $2 per buy between 400,000 and 600,000 buys, and $2.50 per buy over 600,000 buys.

I doubt the pay structure has changed this much.

Henderson got 5000 PPV points when he knocked out Bisping. It makes sense when you think about it.

well, since you are clearly guessing, i wouldn't be saying sonnen gets ppv points in every thread.

There have always been PPV pts and bonus doubters. Back in 2007 on thus site you were hard pressed to find anyone to believe a bonus even existed. It was like pulling teeth to get Sherdog folks to accept that fighters made much more then disclosed and previously thought.

It's no different now. It's just plain logical to assume that the newer contracts are much Better then a contract written in 2007. It's almost moronic to assume otherwise.

GODDAMNIT THEN/THAN - There is a difference !!!

Dana said that Sonnen doesn't get PPV points in a discussion about Wand wanting them.

PPV points are contractually obligated. I bet Sonnen gets a hell of a nice bonus based on how much attention he can gain for the fight points or not.

there is a bit of grammar nazi in that but the original quote

"Chael is the biggest draw outside of GSP. He draws more views then Jones and silva believe it for not. I know he isn't the Champ buy he is paid very well. You may be right about him not having points per say... I can't say I know other then everyone clamor to fight him due to the PPV numbers always being higher with him..."

has "believe it for not" plus that whole last sentence makes the post a little less credible...

Overeem got PPV points for his UFC debut and the legend/UFC veteran Wandy doesn't? WTF DW. Brock Lesnar was obviously the draw in that main event not Overeem.
