Well, what do ya think of pingo pogo -- table tennis!?

That goofy basement game you and your friends play after a night of too much drinking?

That sport all the asians play?

Just for nerds and fat old guys who can't move?

That AWESOME sport with all the INSANE moves and AMAZING athletics!

Brilliant sport. You watch some of the rallies at professional level and it just blows your mind.

Much more athletic than most people in the SB would think.

It requires tiny shorts and towels to wipe off a bead of sweat. Im a D level athlete but im a high motor guy so i can beat some asians under the age of ten

I view it somewhat akin to how I view Power Walking; mostly pointless, and a watered-down version of a better sport.

Table tennis is probably the hardest finesse athletic sport there is. I would put biathlons up there as well.

I didn't say it wasn't (Power Walking is physically demanding, too, btw).

It may arguable be the most mentally quick game of all. The level of brain speed you need to make those minute adjustments must be warped. Probably faster than even a pro boxer. Those guys can use hand placement, and positioning to increase their chances of blocking or landing punches and also a larger margin for error.

That is a big call imo. I think cricket, baseball and pro tennis would have to be up there in terms of reaction time as well.

Check this clip out, it was a recent game between Australia and South Africa.

Absolutely brutal and completely legal:

The thing with baseball is you are not inundated with situations that call for quick decision making at a really high pace, same with tennis and cricket. For every quick decision and action, how much time do you get inbetween?

A ping pong volley is like a boxing volley, but you have less margin for error. Well a boxer can get knocked out if he makes a mistake, but the chance of error is higher in ping pong because it requires much more precision.

How often do you see a batter step out of the box to collect his nerves? In table tennis, you have to take everything on the fly and the last guy able to keep it up wins. I think most people could return a pretty hard table tennis shot if they just practiced for that shot. Try to do it with only having fractions of a second to pick up on the slight variations of spin put on it.

have you ever seen a mens pro tennis match live before? If not I suggest you watch one and you will see how truly skilled those guys are. They hit the ball extremely hard so they need to make quick decisions all the time.

With cricket yes they have time in between balls but once the ball is released at 150kmh coming straight at your head, you don't even get time to think.

Yes, I have. I have played tennis too. Again, they do not need as much precision when they return a 130mph serve because they have a larger playing surface. And they can time that ball because they see the server setting it up.

I have never played cricket, but it is not always just about the speed of the ball. You must take into consideration how far it is traveling. I wonder if anyone has measured the speed of a ping pong ball. Take that along with how long a distance it travels.
