So, I was rewatching the 2015 documentary Where to invade next by Michael Moore and it gave me an idea. The premiss of the documentary is that Moore visits other countries to see what they do better than the US and then he tries to “steal” the ideas or policies as a running joke through out the film. If you haven’t seen it, it’s definitely worth the watch.

To show what the USA can learn from rest of the world, director Michael Moore playfully visits various nations in Europe and Africa as a one-man "invader" to take their ideas and practices for America. Whether it is Italy with its generous vacation time allotments, France with its gourmet school lunches, Germany with its industrial policy, Norway and its prison system, Tunisia and its strongly progressive women's policy, or Iceland and its strong female presence in government and business among others, Michael Moore discovers there is much that American should emulate.
Anyway, this sparked the idea for a thread in the WR.

The US has been in a fairly negative light lately with them dropping on all kinds of lists, drug problems, riots, mass shootings, right wing terrorism, etc. ravaging the country. So, to put it in a more positive light I would like to emphasize on what the world could benefit from the US. Basically: what do you think will help other countries become better. What kind of policies, projects, plans, etc. would be useful to the rest of the world. Try to think broad (the idea should work almost everywhere) but also be specific as possible, so not the obvious stuff like democracy in North Korea or something. Also add why you think it would work and what exactly would be the benefits (preferably with source).

A couple of examples from the documentary:
- vacation days in Italy
- Free college in Slovenia
- Schoollunches in France
- Prisons in Norway

Ofc not everyone is from the US on here so if you’re from Canada, Japan, Mexico, Europe or whatever the same goes.

I’m curious what people will come up with and I’ll try to put the good ideas in the OP.

- nature reservation

Not to watch Michael Moore propaganda is one thing i learned in my time here.
I would probably say preservation of natural wonders. The National Park System and rural living.
Say what you want about Michael Moore, his documentaries are very entertaining and informative. Plus he deserves credit for being one of the most vocal and hard nosed critics of the Iraq war. He was a critic way before all the alt right protectionist became it. But this is not about him so let’s skip that.

Your example is a good example. That’s what I admired of Teddy Roosevelt being one of the vocal advocates of preserving nature (and actually doing something about it).

Yes, the USA sucks. So PLEASE - illegal, legal, lactose intolerant, or dealing with alopecia, don't come over here!

People that feel that they are oppressed, please move to whatever utopia So Fresh calls his/her habitat!

Ah, better...
We could stop paying more than the rest of the world for meds. And maybe we wouldn't need as many meds if we ate better took care of ourselves.
Your taste in documentaries explains a lot about why your posts are so terrible.

The number one answer is the constitution. Number two? Freedom.
To no surprise the usual right wing suspects didn’t understand the thread. <{chips}>

Yeah, that was a head scratcher, lol.

Americans absolutely need to eat better. I'm pretty sure US is the fasttest country by a large margin and now we have people trying to celebrate fatness as some sort of body positivity movement. It's harmful and whenever I see obese children I want to physically fight their parents.

You got off wrong to start with when you take seriously anything that stupid fuck says.

I think it's best the people of any country decide what they want.

That's should be supported with a constitution. I could say our constitution but then maybe the people in another country don't want what we want. Like freedom of speech and our 2nd amendment and many of the others.

Like the other post "The US is a terrible racist violent country. Don't come here".

For me personally there is a direct link between population density and quality of life. Access to the outdoors and knowing these places have been preserved for all of humanity and not just the affluent is the biggest take away.

It’s not about what Americans can do better. I mean it’s in the title.. don’t you people read?

What can the rest of the world learn from the US?
And you answer with: Americans need to eat better
{<huh}

Yeah but that’s kind of out of reach for countries that aren’t that big. US is lucky it’s that big, so there is space for that. So I would say it can be preferred, but it’s not really a policy or idea which can be implemented in a lot of places.

Did I get your pronouns right?
So first you’re acting like a snowflake. Then you try to deflect the thread with “wokeness”.. you’re not really adding something substantial to the thread are you? I mean I don’t mind, but just so you know it yourself. Self reflection is often difficult.
