The one guy that's still at the top is Jon Jones. And we all know how he feels. He was also scared back in the era with the older fighters. But now that he's seen other guys do it, like DC, who he already beat many times, he's trying it too.

Anderson, GSP, Aldo, etc. even guys like Chuck, Tito, Hughes, etc. could have done it in their primes too but they were too scared. So, now they see all these guys with a fraction of their talent accomplish things they never could because of their weaker mentality. Do they regret it now?

They're thinking weight classes are SHIT and that the ranges are too narrow.

They were too scared??? Stupidest statement in a while.. The answer is easy! They think it's all bullshit. They weren't scared, they weren't afforded the opportunity. Dana didn't let Anderson fight for the LHW title, you think Andy was scared of forrest griffin? The only one that was scared was GSP, he wanted no part of the Anderson fight.. This is dumb. you think coutore was scared to try and win 2 titles at the same time?

Fear had nothing to do with it. UFC didn't openly allow the practice of dual championships until they used it to sell a Conor McGregor fight. True story.
Exactly this! Conor cried and got what no one has gotten before, a chance to hold 2 titles at the same time. And now it's all a bunch of trash and we got "super fights" where there's nothing super about them at all

"Superfight" is a classic MMA trope. First used in UFC 5 to make Shamrock vs Gracie when the rigged UFC 3 tournament blew up in their face when neither guy could continue after semi's.

Don't forget there where not as many divisions back than, so its not the 10 lbs gap that it is now (mostly). Also, who really cares about double champ? It's not like any of the double champs (besides Nunes) actually dominates 2 divisions. They go up and get an inmediate title shot. They usually go up when the match up suits them, so I don't put much value in it

A PPV with Fedor fighting bears would have broken most nations animal abuse laws so it didnt make career sense to move up.

There has really only been an opportunity for one "super fight" in MMA history, and we all got robbed by it never happening.

#1 bullshit

As a fan of Aldo, I'm pissed he moved down instead of moving up. I'd really prefer to see him at LW, not BW
That’s what he wanted too—to challenge Petfis for the LW belt. Dana told Jose he’d have to vacate the FW belt first

but they were too scared.
Aldo wanted to fight for the Lightweight title, but Dana said he'd have to vacate the Featherweight one first.

Make no mistake about it, plenty of fighters would've tried to become double champs if they were allowed.

0/10 thread
