Was GSP still in his peak wh in Hendrick's fight?

No he was definitely not in his prime anymore, but also jacked up Hendricks was a tough style/size match-up for GSP. I also don’t think Hendricks was much better than those guys you named, just specifically stronger than GSP and a solid wrestling base with Power to make GSP wary

prime

henricks tapped within the first 25 seconds of the fight

in all seriousness though, GSP was still in his physical prime but he was admittedly mentally exhausted from defending the belt for so long. By the time hendricks and him faced off, GSP was half out the door retired and his motivation to fight was fading.

The reason GSP wasn't dominant like used be in all his fights it was because he was out of his prime or the reason was just his opponent who was better than Fitch, Shields, Kos, Alves, Diaz...?
Neither.
It is just a really bad style matchup for him.
Hendricks isn't necessarily better than those people you listed, but he's probably the worst style matchup for GSP.

Hendricks was the worst style matchup for most WW fighters
Elite wrestling, brute strenght and one single punch ko power are some of the best tools than a MMA fighter coud have

He was 30 how more prime can he be???

He showed better boxing against Bisping 4 years later

well, he never stop trainning.
and since he was retired from MMA,
he spent more time training with Freddie Roach.

So, d'uh?

Hendricks had some advantages in that fight if you know what I mean.
Not to get my post deleted, but the evidence looks bad to the naked eye and ear. I'll leave it at that.

That and GSP really was on the ragged edge by that point with fighting.

Not many long-time great champs that never had a decision go their way that was controversial, no real smoking gun with this one. The point rules in the UFC made that a close fight like it or not.

When he didn't power double Condit in the 1st 5 seconds of the fight through the canvas, I knew he was not the same Georges anymore. He had to work a little too hard (comparatively) for the guy with the best TDs ever against a guy with some of the worst TDD ever

He was also pretty mentally checked out for awhile and had been talking about retiring several fights before Hendricks

GSP was burnt out from fighting. He didn't perform to the level he could. Like others said still in his physical prime but mentally one foot out the door and was still a close fight. I gave it to Hendricks though.

Hendricks the man who once tried eating the burger without the fries, but succumbed in the end.

Coach - "now Johnny your fighting for the belt you need to stay in shape. So I'll let you eat the burger just not the fries"

Hendricks - "sure thing Coach, i won't touch the fries"

Moments later after consuming the burger...

Coach - "Oh for fucks sake Johnny you pig, why do I even bother... yeah just go ahead and eat the freaking fries"
