warren prevented a fight yet won sad for mma

I hope every fight you ever watch from now on is straight lay and pray and you stop watching the sport because of it.

It was a pretty bad fight, Warren didn't do any damage and I feel if it went another round or two he would have been knocked out! He held on for way too long, the couple knees he landed were not enough to win the fight. The guy will never make it to the next level, he just dosen't have it. People who think this was a good fight are idiots!

This.

Have you ever been picked up and repeatedly slammed to the ground?

Back and forth fight. I was frustrated with Warren's gameplan as well though. Seemed to do a lot leaning on Dantas against the cage. I was surprised Joe was able to grind that hard and keep his cardio up, he looked like he got tired in the second but rebounded well. I also thought if Dantas had pushed the pace a little more on the feet he could've taken it. He seemed to let Warren off the hook a couple times when he had him stunned. At the very least the fight should've been a draw as I thought McCarthy should've taken a point for the illegal kick. He had been warning both Warren and Dantas throughout the fight for minor offenses, but that was obviously intentional.

Look, all Dantas had to do was keep on his feet. Is that so hard for the champion to do? Should he really be champion with only partial skills?

Warren fought his fight. Wrestle-fuck? Sure. But he controlled the tempo and where the fight took place. If homie could sharpen up his striking and MOVE HIS HEAD for fuck sakes, he could be a decent champ. His wrestling is top notch.

Warren has some good knees. That's about it from a damage perspective.

Yeah, he fights to his strengths, or lack there of. "I love it when guys throw one strike and then immediately duck under for a td/clinch", Joe Warren on FightMaster.

It was a compelling fight to see if Dantas could overcome Warren's attempts to stay sticky. He succeeded somewhat, but not enough under the current MMA rules. So he deserved to lose. But I think he deserves an immediate rematch with the alternatives and how close the match was and to see what he can do with Warren now he knows exactly what to expect. I think he'd make the adjustments in the rematch and win. He probably wins 48-47 this one if he doesn't try to stick the hooks in when Warren wasn't giving him anywhere to do so and he had back control. He should have just applied the rnr without them and if Warren turned over he was on top to gnp.

Yeah sure but if you just want to lay on top of a dude there is another sport called wrestling.

In wrestling you don't have to worry about punches and kicks when trying to work for your takedowns, and you can't throw punches no matter how soft you perceive them to be from the top. This is MMA, you can do both of those things, and the sport has people who succeed at the highest levels using all different forms, and i'm cool with that.

I don't start threads saying "I can't believe Dom Cruz used superior footwork to avoid the takedowns and win a sparring match on his feet" when he beats a wrestler. You use the tools you have that are needed to win the fight.

if you didn't know either guy I guess I can see maybe saying it was boring. But it was two elite guys using what has made them win in the past in a five round title fight and it was close. Sorry if that didn't entertain you for five rounds but many here including myself enjoyed the fight. War Warren and War Dantas

I agree with TS to a certain degree. Warren was very active and effective with knees and punches in the first round. However, after that he hardly landed a strike and was grappling non-stop. It was an entertaining fight to watch, but the guy that won hardly did any damage.

I agree with this.

Dantas is a pretty gnarly striker from the outside, as well as a fairly slick sub artist.

Warren is stellar in the Greco clinch, take-downs and GnP.

Joe imposed his will and kept the fight within HIS winnable parameters.
