People like the idea of the industry tapping into the deep well of comic story lines, especially the crossover events. But as far as I can see these comic universes are a mile wide and an inch deep

I don't really get the appeal of Super Hero comics (or movies) for adults, aside from maybe childhood nostalgia.
Even when they try to insert adult themes and character development, the entire premise still seems overwhelmingly juvenile.
At least the Cold War stuff is amusing as a quaint relic of juvenile propaganda.
