It showed up, the German HiPoint!

Was keen to shoot the thing after perusing the online reviews of it.

1st impressions? Well, while not as loose as a whole cow pussy, I'd say this one compared to the others I've looked at comes in at about a calf cunt! <BC1> The slide is rattle trap loose, the barrel - ok, the trigger is nice. Yeah, the trigger is nice. Grip feels good.

Onto the test track:

The Ammo: 1974 Marine Corp Hardball Match, Hornady XTP 185grn, and Missouir Bullet's 225grn coated lead with a "Comp-gun" charge of powder behind it.

17 yards, offhand, trying to take some time, (I'm seriously ADHD when it comes to pistols. If the sights seem remotely close, the voice in my head is like: Pull the goddamn trigger now! Bang! There it is again! Shoot it!)

1st the 74 Hardball:

Next the Hornady 185s

Next the Compu-gun load: I didn't hold out these were going to perform necessarily in the polygonal barrel, but aside from kicking like a 44 mag snub nose, they acted like they wanted to group. (fucksake these kicked in a regular gun, need to chronograph these things and see where they're at)

30 yards with the Hornady 185s Again AHHD, but I wanted to see if the gun felt like it was easy to hit, and I guess, I at least hit an entire paper bag, but there isn't a whole lotta stress goin on at a range so..... And I fogot to turn the photo, but you get the idea. I hit something, sorta!

Moving back to 50 yards I wanted to see if it hit anywhere like the HK VP9sk, (which made 50 yards great again) 6-7 hits outa 10 shots per mag. Had to take time and care though, more on that in a bit.

I got no fouling from the coated lead bullets at all.

Passing thoughts:

While shooting the 185 Hornadys I actually encountered a failure to feed which jammed up the works, and almost a 2nd which just made it in but slowed the cycling noticeably.

This day and age, with the manufacturing equipment, and the fact we're dealing with a gun as loose as a cow cunt, any fucking FTF is intolerable. If it was a Custom Comp-gun with minuscule tolerances that needed shooting in, ok, but not this shit. Big Strike.

I feel its a pretty accurate gun, maybe a little more than my XD45s, but overall the handling was off, I didn't like driving it.

Recoil wasn't any worse, but at the same time muzzle whip was excessively noticeable. Prolly wouldn't make a shit's worth of difference in a 9mm, but in a 45, the design lends itself to more muzzle whip than other guns. Case in Point I pulled out an XD45 and shot it after testing the Walther, and the muzzle whip with the same ammo was prolly only half.

Like I said, I didn't care for the way the gun handled when driving it from target to target, or even within the same target. Now i ain't no Chump-Norris Bad Ass Killer Motherfucker, I shoot for the pleasure of the shooting, but I do enjoy mechanical advantage over problems I gotta ride around. The excessive muzzle whip under recoil, the FTF, the loose as a cow cunt fit compared to other guns and others that I own personnally didn't overcome the strong points of the PPQ 45 in my estimation. I'll be sending this one back to Walther for the refund.

Disappointing, but it's nice you can return it.

Thanks, but I can't bring myself to own a Glock, on principal. Maybe the internet had something to do with it, but I'd almost buy a HiPoint first!

I was hating on glock for a while for similar reasons but honestly they just work. Great bore axis, reliable with steel cased garbage to exotic nonsense, accurate, good trigger, etc. Massive customization and accessories market, so much so that you can build a glock without any glock parts lol.

Yes-yes, I know. I've liked the ones I've shot. Like visiting other people's kids. They seem great, and even better they don't go home with you.

I haven't committed to trying the optical sights. I'm afraid it could lead to me buying too many guns!

I looked at a CZ-P10 at the joint I did the transfer at. Those are kinda neat, but they're just 9mms. I still dig a certain amount of horsepower.

The last gun I was really pleased with was the HK VP9SK I bought. Maybe cause I had lowered expectation being it's a subcompact, but I rather like those. Would almost consider getting the Standard VP9. Downside is its a 9mm. Only other alternative with those are 40s. I don't be want'n no forty yo! Bullets to expensive and oddball when I already have 45s and 9mms are cheaper. It's kind've circle jerk reasoning but there it is, many things in life are!

I need to raise the top of my shooting berm, another project. Buy some extra bullets to practice too.

I think I might try an ensemble next. Since I've already got the VP9sk, might add the VP9 proper to it. Its 9mm, can't be helped but I continue to practice with 45s, the 9mm will feel like a BBgun, when I goto any po-dunk shooting match!

They even make a pinhead proof stick on compensator for it:

Beings it's already a 9mm it'll prolly shoot like a bullet-hose!

They got Flathead triggers too:

Trigger install looks a bit tedious, (who knew there was so many little springs n shit up in there!

You could hand load 9 to +P+ if you want more huevos.

As far as carry ammo Underwood makes some great +P+ loadings. Speer 147 +P+ is a badass carry/hd round

I never bought dies for 9mm, for the trouble I feel its almost as cost effective to buy, and just shoot again if need be!

I wish I still had the last 3 chronographs I had that people inadvertently shot.

How much do you load .45 for per round? Last 1k case of S&B I got was $240 shipped

People killed 3 of your chronographs, damn.

Ok, so take into considerations the caveats here:

My reloading system has been paid for since the 1990s.

I've been using much of the same brass for years now too.

So my current equation consists of: Powder, bullets and primers.

Powder: https://www.powdervalleyinc.com/product/vihtavuori-n320/ Currently $112 for 4lbs.
I bought it on sale at around $78 (at the time - haven't used it all up yet.

4lbs = roughly 28000grns.
6.5grns per round
28000 / 6.5 = 4307 rnds per 4lbs.

Primers: $30 per 1000 say.

Bullets: http://missouribullet.com/details.php?prodId=231&category=5&secondary=13

$105 per 1000.
+ $30
+ $26 for powder(?)

$161

161 / 1000 = .161

16 cents a round?

You might check my math, I calculate at the sub-atomic retard level!

45 brass is much easier to find than 9mm, (unless its near 45 brass you're looking for.) Once you get your reloader going and have a bank of brass, after so many rounds the investment starts to pay back a little.

Since the 90s I'm at approx 58,000 45 acp loaded on my rig.

(since the lead bullets comes in boxes of 500, its not difficult to keep track.

9mm wouldn't use as much powder and the bullets would be cheaper I'm assuming.
