Hey Sherdoggers,

as i promise, here is my review of the Vulkan kimono. Its a very light and nice looking kimono, but it doesn't look that durable as a goldweave* (for example the venum, gameness). Its very soft, but the collar starts to lose shape after the second wash (cold). I think the rubber starts to "abuse".

Never the less, its a good choice for hot days and if you need to make that extra weight in the competition. I would recommend it as a chilling and summer kimono, but for hard sparring days and competition i stay with my first pick the Venum kimono.

i order it form budovideos.com and they raped my ass off. i almost paid 220 $ for it:(

Enough with the bs, lets put up some pictures:]

UPDATE:

After using this kimono now over a month, i am not very pleased.

1. The kimono starts to ripping. The sleeves loses some stitches already.
2. After soaking with sweat, probably after the warm up, the shape of the kimono turn into some baggy piece of *** :(
3. The collar is dead! I don't know whats wrong with it, but the collars shape turned into a "weave form". The rubber is loosing it stiffness.
4. The kimono strechted and lose the stiffness. Its just like a T-shirt. Maybe my English is f**kup, but it seems like that it grows :)

Conclusion:
Its just damn light, but the CON is too big, that i regret the order :(

I would give it a 5/10!

Edit2:
Jacket is fucked up! Look at the Collar!

Vulkans are awesome, I use one as my main gi. That said ... enough photos? Man, it pretty much looks like any other blue gi to my eyes.

so how many people are waiting for Photoshop to load up right now?

I have a feeling this thread is alot funnier than it's supposed to be.

You're gonna get flames but it it means anything, I appreciate the review. Cheers.

hows this compare to the Ouano lightweight, is this gi feel more durable? lighter?

hahahahaha

Is it my English? I am sorry, but i try to make sentences with sense. Please try to correct me, i would appreciate it.

Compared to other kimonos... its damn light, but thats it. Its light, feels nondurable (i would say 8-12 month and its gonna rip). Weird collar, with weird rubber. The reinforcements are almost tkd Gi like.

i received this gi as a gift, it feels really light but im unsure how it will hold up in competition or regular training, i would hate for it to tear in about 9-10mos down the line like soid posted in his review. Has anyone had thiers for over a year without tearing?

i own 2 vulkans and 1 ouano

i really prefer the vulkans over the ouano for a few reasons.

im able to wash the vulkans in warm water AND able to throw them in the dryer. there is little to no shrinkage on the vulkans. they are very comfortable and light. the collar can get a bit flimsy, but thats really up to your preference/game plan. i myself dont like a thick collar nor do i like a heavy feeling gi. i have 1 blue and 1 white vulkan, and there is something kind of odd. the blue vulkan fits me perfectly, and even though the pants in both seem very flimsy, they have actually held up pretty well (bjj classes 6 days a week washing the gis every day) my only complaint, and its simply because i haven't had the chance to, is the draw string isn't rope. so there will be some days if its a hard work out and your pants are soaking, and you're a retard like me, it will be tough to get your pants off, as silly as the idea seems. but you can always replace it with a rope string and wa-la. there was also pretty big fading on the vulkan blue gi, but im sure if you got some dye retaining product it would help. i also like my blue gi because i took off the front vulkan chest patch and put on a gbarra patch kit :p so it looks one of a kind. moving on.
the odd thing with these two vulkans is the blue fits perfectly and has since i bought it, yet the white gi, both A3s feels really big and baggy on me. ive had maybe 2 months of washing the blue gi on the white gi, so im not sure if it will just require more washes to get a bit more snug. vulkan gis get an a- from me, id like to see the ropestring in the pants is all.

the ouano lightweight gi i own is white, and when i received it, size a3, it was really big on me. after 1 wash on warm and in the dryer its come down in size significantly. this gi had about 6 to 7 inches of shrinkage on the inseam, so just beware of that when you are shopping these. the jacket saw about 2-3 inches of shrinkage but nothing too bad. the collar is i would say flimsier than the vulkan. the design on the inside of the gi is pretty sweet, but overall the design on the ouanos are nothing flashy, simple, which isnt bad. it feels about the same weight as the vulkan, only stiffer, due to washing in cold and the hang dry process. you can fluff dry the gi for about 20 minutes to help, but it still seems a bit stiffer. the pants definately feel more sturdy than the vulkan pants, and they have a ropestring drawstring which is a big plus. they have 3 loops on the front of the pants, which is weird because im used to 2. the one in the middle might throw you off if youre not used to it, but if you're not a retard like me youll pick it up a lot quicker :p

both gis are nice, but i would probably not buy another ouano. i will probably try a krugans or koral classic next, and then go back to vulkans when mine need replacing.

oh and budovideos will rip you off on vulkans, go to jiujitsuprogear.com (if theyre still carrying them) i get my white vulkan for 110 and blue for 130, tack on about 20-30 bucks for shipping depending where you're at.

hope this helps.

Wow thanks, thats a nice posting. What's your size (height, weight, muscular)

Like I said above, I've trained in mine for three years, as my main gi, without tearing the jacket or really damaging it much. It feels flimsy, but it's very strong. I've competed in it several times too.

The pants are weak and tear relatively easily. You may find yourself ordering a new pair of pants in a year or so. But that's just $30, not a big deal compared to the jacket.

I'm totally sold on Vulkans ... except their price, which is too high these days.

Gordinho, I've searched through the archives and I noticed you have had a chance to try out a lot of different kimonos.

I was wondering which one do you like the best out of the ones you've tried?

Sorry you have probably answered this question before.

Also have you tried out fuji and padilla and sons? How do those cheap kimonos compare to the more expensive ones like vulkan?

IMHO, the quality of the gi is also dependent on how you take care of it.

The P&S gis are quite good, I have the hybrid gi and I love it.

I also have a vulkan and love it as well.

but, among all my gis, I like the vulkan the best since its so light, and it seems durable enough.

you're welcome. im 5'9 and anywhere from 210-215 depending on the season. im pretty muscular and broad shouldered, my chest measures at about 48 inches and my waist is 32-34 inseam of 30. considering when i first started jiujitsu i was just under 300 lbs and filled out an A4 pretty well, im pretty glad an a3 can seem a bit big :D
