Just recieved my Victory Athletics 16 oz sparring gloves from Golden Gear today. Let me start out by saying that Dan was awesome to deal with. Helped me through the checkout and kept in touch throughout the whole process. Thats what I call great customer service.

Anyway, I am a newbie to this site and this is my first review.....so if it sucks.....I apologize in advance.

The Victory gloves are Golden Gears somewhat budget line. But there is nothing budget about these gloves. The leather is super smooth. No cracks no flaws. Nothing flashy. Your basic black color with white thumb and the Victory logo on both the glove and wrist wrap.

The wrist is solid with a 2 strap system.

The fit is nice and snug but not too snug as my hand all wrapped up slides in nicely and feels very secure. The padding is very even and seems very solid for hitting the bag and punch mitts. As I stated above...the wrist is 2 strap and feels nice and stable with great padding.

All in all my initial impression of these gloves is great.A solid glove at a price that didnt break my bank. I will post again once I take them to the gym for a hard ass workout.

Thanks again Dan. Looking forward to doing more business with you.

So how much are the gloves and why did you buy these and not any of the other dozens of choices?

Will you get a discount for the free promotion after you e-mail this to Dan? (assuming you aren't Dan yourself)

thanks for the review :) good to hear they're quality although I do think reviews should only be written after the product has actually been used, proof of the pudding and all that

you get 10% off your next order for reviewing GG products

The gloves were 61.99 during the early black friday sale. I was just doing an initial review right out of the box.

Fair enough.

Our Victory Athletics gloves may look like these in design, but the foams, materials used, and make of these gloves are completely different. The way taskmaster put it earlier, Victory Athletics is in a sense our budget line, but in no way budget quality gear. Victory Athletics is extremely innovative, quality fight gear that offers excellent protection and comfort. I have been using VA gloves and shin pads for over a year and my gloves are still in perfect condition. Love them myself! I hope more of you get to try these gloves out. The point of our Victory Line is to offer fighters high quality equipment but not empty their wallets!

And yes if you review your gear on our website you are emailed a coupon code!

Thanks
Dan G

@ Dan I've been thinking of buying new thai pads and was wondering how do the victory athletics thai pads compare to the hayabusa ones?

I was only half serious. I think this is good marketing practice as long as people are open and up-front about it, there is absolutely nothing wrong with having people post their reviews online. As long as they really buy and use the products, I don't see anything wrong with it whatsoever. Thanks for clarification, but it wasn't really needed. Big props for engaging online though. I like that, too. THANKS!

similar design. Our arm straps feature an elastic band to offer a more secure and comfortable fit. In addition, I believe our thai pads are slightly lighter than Hayabusas. These thai pads are truly like air thai pads. Offer excellent padding but they are extremely lightweight unlike other thai pads so coaches arms will never get tired! I highly recommend you try them out especially at the affordable price (a fraction of the cost of Hayabusa!) You really cant go wrong! Like taskmaster said: VA isnt our budget line. Its a high quality line that just wont empty your wallets! Please let me know if you have other questions about the Thai Pads. Hope this helps. Thanks

I completely agree. I would rather someone tell me they hated our product and tell me why so we can improve it then lie and say they loved a crappy product. I fight and train in muay thai myself so I am using all the gear I design and sell. I wouldnt sell anything that I am not excited to use or would love using myself! I just didnt want Taskmaster to be falsely accused of being me lol. I appreciate the shout out for engaging online! Let me know if you have any questions about our fight line!

Only have good things to say about Dan and his prompt attention. That said, I just ordered a pair of these gloves and will add my 2 cents once I test them out!

Best

You will be impressed.

Just got back from the gym about an hour ago and these gloves passed the test with flying colors!!

The gloves fit nice and snug with my handwraps. No slippage inside....the thumb is very comfy. The double wrist wrap gave me great support. Very easy to make a fist.

Did a number on the heavy bag. The padding on the knuckles did what it needed to do. Didnt feel any shock and no sore hands afterwords. I know these are labeled as sparring gloves but it didnt have the squishy pillow padding I hate. Nice and solid and gave a good pop on the bag.

Didnt get a chance to do any mitt work but I am positive that these will do just as good in that aspect.

All in all....very pleased with this purchase. Highly recommended.

@taskmaster.Thanks for the update. Ya... i use mine for bag work/ mitt work/ sparring and after over a year and half they are holding up great. I feel they are super comfortable and I can really pound away on a bag and not worry injuring my wrist or hand at all. Im glad you are loving them as much as I do and please keep me posted!

cool glad to hear it! had similar worries over new gg sparring gloves http://www.sherdog.net/forums/f16/sparring-gloves-new-design-1688577/index10.html

Just got mine along with the shinguards. Uploaded photos to photobucket and on top of a review I'll be doing a comparison of them to my custom Ring to Cage MiM, which I consider the king of the Injected Molded Gloves.
