the outrage because of that fight being scored a draw is seriously one of the most perplexing things i have seen in combat sports.

Jan has a pretty easy argument for winning the first 3. Ankalaev the last two with 5 maybe being a 10-8. Has an argument for the first.

Pretty easily can be scored a draw yet everyone was acting like it was some insane result

Dog shit judging was at least consistent. Hopefully ankalaev is hungrier his next time out, when he showed offense, it looked good to me. You can’t always be the counter striker or waiting for someone to initiate. He looked initiating and I hope he tweaks his style a little bit, because he has potential to be exciting. His boring style will put judges to sleep and they’re the ones judging the fight. Meanwhile Jan landed monster leg kicks that visibly hurt Ankalaev.

Jan obviously took 2 and 3, with Mago taking 4 and 5. 1 was close, though I think I was leaning toward Jan. I can also see 5 being a 10-8, though, so that'd be a draw.

What I can't fathom is the judge that gave 3 to Mago. He looked like he was on the verge of being finished and he wins the round?

I don't think Jan won. But there's an argument for it for sure. Blatant robbery it was not.

It wasn't. I think a draw is justified. People probably were already all up in their feels because of the Paddy fight, so that tends to carry over.

The only reason the decision is controversial at all is because Ank won the last two rounds so people think that means he won the fight. The issue with that is the first round was 50/50 and 2 and 3 were clearly Jan.

You can probably add in the awful commentary too. The biggest reactions they gave for Ankalaev were missed or blocked shots, and then obviously Rogan completely bungled the post fight interviews.

People who try and claim Jan has an argument for the first round do not know how fights are scored, he lost that one period. Ank won 1, 4 and 5 clearly IMO, hell even 3 was arguable as striking was even but Jan did damage the legs visibly. Ankalev should have been given the nod end of story, but I will agree the decision was no where near as bad as the co main.
