HypOps simulates a hypothetical clash between an American Carrier Strike Group and a Russian S-400 battalion located beside Khmeimim Air Base in Latakia, Syria after a Tomahawk cruise missile launch is intercepted by Russian air defences including an S-400 Triumf, Tor Missile System, Buk Missile System, Pantsirs and Sukhoi Su-34 and Su-35 aircraft.

This kind of stuff is more suited to the War Room. Otherwise it ends up some kind of political debate, because people can't control their emotions when they see the words Russia vs USA in a topic.

Edit: Very interesting video though

I don't believe discussion on military technology should be necessarily related to War Room, but since this one is Russia, I can see your point. I didn't watch the video, however, because I read up on military tech, among other things, and I already know the rundown. I am not going to spend twenty minutes listening to some schmuck blab about stuff I already know. The F-35 should be able to beat the S-400, unless they have somehow managed to integrate their long wave radars with something like active IR seekers or sto create a radar quality track via some other means. They can already track stealth jets via long wave radar, but since the wave is so long, it is not able to guide a missile all by itself. It could, however, get a missile with an active IR head on it close enough to do the rest. Military tech is interesting stuff.
Edit: The Chinese are working on quantum radar, which would unmask stealth platforms entirely.

I completely agree, I just think with the current political environment topics like this which aren't political can possibly turn into it.
How hard is it for them to integrate LW radars iwth IR seekers or the like for them to do?

So stealth is shit now? Why they be making their own stealth with USA's stolen tech then?

If it was easy, they would have done it by now. They are working on it, but they have for years, or at least according to what I have read. The Russians have put optical scanners on the top of their new planes, in order to create a weapons quality track at shorter ranges via optical means with IR seekers on the missile warheads. It is pretty complicated, and I am leaving a lot out, but it is a cat and mouse game. If the Chinese master quantum radar, it will negate all stealth advantages, if I understand correctly.
Edit: read these if you are interested.

I'm guessing you didn't watch the video?
It's pretty amazing what kind of capabilities real 5th-gen aircraft can (seemingly) bring to the table.
The reputation of Russian AA equipment has gone somewhat down the shitter these last couple of years/conflicts.
The Israeli F-35's are basicly operating alongside/against Russian S-400's in Syria (who don't engage them anyway)
I wonder how the S-400's are performing in that regard, beeing able to track them etc.

I think Russian defense systems are over-rated. they dont even have control of Ukraine airspace yet...imagine American hardware... thats why a lot of experts are not afraid of a NFZ besides maybe provoking a nuclear war.

Tbf that's still a good reason not to

Yeah, they can't even beat these Turkish made drones.

All the research and analysis into the Russian military over the past 20 years is in question now. Or should be. Based on the boondoggle happening in Ukraine right now.

How good is the S-500 and the Su-50 or whatever their newest plane is called?

Oh fun fact the US is already testing a 6th generation fighter jet. They have had 5th generation capacity since the mid 2000's. They are designing them more as drone aircraft with AI assistance. It will have a pilot first an could support RAMjet technology "hypersonic mark 5 or better" may explain the drone future. Unlike requirements of communication tech going to be fully autonomous.

as for the SU-57 i doubt it'll be a real factor in anything, more of a prestige project i guess
India even got out of it despite having already paid for part of the development

They’re definitely going to be too broke to make enough of the Su-57 to make a deference.
