Undertaker 405lb deadlift from pins

Double underhand?

To explain briefly, there are two common deadlift grip: the alternate and the hook grip. The alternate grip is when one hand is grip under the barbell and the other is over the barbell. Now, the risk is that the hand that is grip under the barbell had the risk of tearing off the biceps, as the amount of pressure put onto the bicep at the position is immense. And here we have the Undertaker doing double underhand, which means he put both of his biceps in danger.

I was more astonished at the part that he did it, as his lift looked pretty good outside of some niggles here and there. So i wonder why the grip

Could we get some gym rat to comment on the form because what I saw terrified me and my spine.

His form looked alright but it looked more like a stiff legged deadlift rather than a normal deadlift, where you'd have to get down a bit more than what The Undertaker was doing. His arms aren't straight, which is another thing that raised my eyebrow.

405 is nothing to be sneeze at, but under the right training schedule you can hit the number within your first year.

His form was fine. What was scary was he didn't have his arms locked. Seen a lot of videos of dude's tearing their biceps because of that.

Yeah, I've never seen double underhand. I've seen double overhand to improve grip or double overhand with a hook grip. I'm curious as to why De Franco had him doing that.

As long as you have your arm locked out there really isn't any pressure at all on the bicep. I'm no deadlift beast by any means, (my max is 500) and I used a mix grip and never felt any strain on my underhand bicep.

I'm not a world champ but I've been lifting for a while. Couldn't what Taker is doing be described as a rack pull?

My 1RM last I checked was 425 lbs with an over/under and from the floor :(

yeah, thats a rack pull.

That's not a bad max considering you train MMA and that's probably your main priority.

That's what I thought.

Yeah the past 5 years I haven't been strength training very hard and avoid some heavy lifts altogether due to some injuries. I can't remember what my 1RM bench was before I separated my shoulder but last I went heavy on a smith machine my 1RM max was 315 lbs.

Taker's lift is still pretty good factoring in the mileage on his body and age. I wonder what numbers Mark Henry still puts up.

Surprised a guy as beat up as Taker still deads. Regardless, it looked easy. In his prime, he must've been pulling in the vicinity of 700lbs.

Keep dreaming.
Of course, that number is a pretty optimistic take as factors like schedule, body type or nutrition are taken out. However I worked out for 4 months or so and hit a 7 reps set of 315 pretty easily. And i was still in my novice stage. 405 is really an intermediate-number, but it shouldn't be that long after novice stage is over.

I look at 4 plates as getting serious. I went from never having done a real deadlift in my life to 315 within 6 months so to me any healthy person who even mildly strength trains should be able to do 3 plates. It's that journey from 3 to 4 when you start having to get serious with your training, diet, methods imo.

That Crosfit messed you up.

Form was alright. Not bad for a man his age. No straps means Mark has Calloused hands.

That's a rack pull and not a dead lift. Arms should've been locked and straight and yes, double underhand grip tends to put more stress on the arms and biceps and if there is ever a tear in the arms (usually the biceps), it's from an underhand grip. The form is okay considering his knee damage as he should bend the knees a bit more and his back isn't always straight when he is lowering the weights but okay I guess.

Taker needs to get serious with his lifting. Time to call up Scott Steiner and get some Boise dimes in that gym.
