I saw an al pacino movie for the first time called "Sea of love" I had never heard of it and I quite enjoyed it. I liked the cop dialogue and atmosphere, I liked Al's character and I was surprised I had never heard of the movie before.

And it occurred to me that there must be a ton of movies like this made in the 80s and 90s or early 2000s.

What is thriller/Mystery movie that you consider to be underrated or a hidden gem?

Everyone here seems to slag off Gone Girl. I know I was mental about it because I read book and love Batfleck but a good thrillier is up there with a good payback movie.
I think I've had this movie confused with gone baby gone which is directed by Ben Afleck's brother. I'll probably watch it now.

No Exit- A decent thriller on Hulu. It is like a violent Parlor Mystery set in a Visitors center during a storm. Worth a watch for sure.
Flypaper-2011 -Patrick Dempsey, Ashley Judd. Terrible RT score but I enjoyed it, Bank Heist type.
The Invitation-2015-This is a very cool must see.

There was one with Kevin Spacey called consenting adults. It was about neighbors that decide to swap wives in the middle of the night. The wives didn't know. The idea was that they'd be sleepy and it would be dark so they would just assume it's their husband banging them.

Now that I think about it, it's a pretty rapey concept.

I recently saw a movie called "The Kid Detective", and it was bloody fantastic.

That looks like a good watch, surprised i never heard of it.

I'd recommend stonehearst asylum. A suspense/mystery similar to shutter island.
