Khabib's Eagle FC has failed in trying to gain any market share from UFC.

Khabib indicated that any chance of success in the MMA market had to mean success in the west. Yet Khabib went from trying to sign UFC stars and trying to break into the US market, into complete silence. It has now been one year since Khabib challenged the UFC/Bellator.

Eagle FC's last event in the US was in May of 2022.
Khabib must have realized, trying to be the next Dana White is harder than trying to be the next GSP.

What happened to Eagle FC? Why couldn't they gain any market share from the UFC?

Nothing to do with the UFC, more to do with overspending on fading fighters, not really having a proper media outlet for their shows.

They just never really seemed to properly gear up to move into the US market sensibly, I think they'll stick with Russia/Central Asia.

Coincidence that Khabib recently stated he's stepping away from MMA to spend more time with his family?

Sounds like Eagle FC is going under and Khabib's too proud to say that he simply failed in that venture and that he's got no choice but to walk away.

Instead, he chose to walk away for "family".

I think it has everything to do with the UFC. If you want to make it in the US, you have to be able to take market share from the UFC. UFC has way too big a slice of the pie. Khabib knew this, which is why when he was doing promos for Eagle FC, he kept saying he was coming for the UFC, going to sign UFC fighters ect.

He should have just made Eagle FC into a feeder organization for the UFC (like the LFA) and went on fight pass, instead, Khabib wanted to be a rival and gain market share against the king... well, look what happened.

Main reason that they failed was that they didn't sign Jens Pulver

With Jens , Eagle would have soared.

If your USP is that your promoter is/was a prominent fighter… you don’t really have much going for you.

Also, didn’t they attempt to sign a 40 odd year old Bigfoot Silva at one point? What kind of business strategy is that. Khabib was better off becoming a UFC ambassador of some sort.

Well the UFC didn't really drive him out of the market, unless you mean that they did it simply by existing

I don't think the UFC ever worried about Eagle encroaching on them tbh. At the end of the day they had guys like Yorgan De Castro main eventing and features fights like Lombard/Thiago Silva, they were on borrowed time.

They're still running and he's still owner, he's just stepped away from the day to day running of it.

Shit was free with no AAA western sponsors, I get what their plan was but it just didn't work.

It was the sanctions that probably had the biggest effect.

They should have just put central Asian monsters on the USA cards.

The UFC didn’t do shit, pal.

Dana and Khabib met many times during a meal. Where Khabib sought advice, and Dana gave it to him.

That pesky war thingamabob in the Ukraine may have played a factor..

And REALLY Khabib.. Kevin Lee was the face of your org (paying him “more than UFC champions”). And fighting Sanchez? Holy fuck, man.

Russian Mob and war with Ukraine messed things up.

Damn that evil UFC! It is so unfair! There has got to be some evil, criminal acts going on and I'm sure it is all that guy/girl? Dana's fault, like he's ever done anything. I mean, how is it possible not to overtake UFC's business after working so hard for a whole TWO years. What more could anyone possibly do to deserve it?

This is the pussiest fighter bashing thread I've ever seen.

Can this guy get some vagina shaped cards?

Literally NO SOURCE except his hatred, jealousy, ignorance, and free time.

foh Pussy

(sources could be fighter's coming out and saying they didn't get what was promised or promises fell through, or events were cancelled, etc. ANYTHING other than your pussy bitch thought)
