The UFC should forget about north America and set up in Europe entirely. Particularly the UK.
In the UK and Europe football/ soccer obviously is king but theres room for a solid sport in the top 5. Rugby etc are big as well.

In north America they have a too many giant leagues like NFL, NBA, MLB, NHL. UFC will never compete with these sports in the us or Canada ,but the reality is. All of these are basically just niche sports in Europe. Virtually none existent.

These sports are huge Because of the sheer size of north America but in terms of world wide attraction. They are low on the totem pole.

If they shifted UFC head quarters to UK.
Put all the big events on in local European times for the fans to regularly enjoy.
They could charge ppv I guarantee.
They would have to give us it all. Prime time Saturday night and the best fights.

Combat sports is pretty big in the UK ( boxing) right now. I can't speak for some other European countries but it could work.

Anthony Joshua regularly is pulling.1.5 million PPVs in his last few fights.

Move to UK/Europe???

You do realise the UK have decided to leave the EU lol. It's like big news.

UFC should remain in America. It's not ever going to grab the attention from people in Europe who follow football. The whole product is catered to an American audience.

I'd be all for seeing Dana put on a british accent.

You do realise Europe and the European union are not the same thing right? UK is still part of the continent of Europe

Yes but financially UFC moving to UK would be totally different to moving to Europe as Brexit is going to f shit up.

Yeah we don't have baseball or ice hockey in Europe so we just sit around twiddling our thumbs and lamenting the lack of non-football sports.

No its not. It's just scare mongering. UK were once alone and did fine and we will be again. Before the 70s we were not part of the European union.
We don't have the same currency etc.
We are different anyway.
This isn't the point. I'm talking about Europe in a geographical way. We are still the continent of Europe.
Europe is huge. Lots of fans. If we had the correct times and big events. It could do well

I could see them splintering the UFC and having a regional UFC UK promotion or something but their market is America. I actually wouldn't mind the idea if they had a UK base for regular UK cards with local talent. Have even a UK title and then springboard to the main UFC roster once established. Kind of like boxing does with the UK and European titles.

Would it hurt to put a little more into the European market? At least test the waters. Put some huge events on in UK time and charge PPV in Europe. Some kind of streaming service in north america/ other places to compensate for time difference.

The ppv buy rates are as whole, dwindling.

I'm not suggesting just up sticks and without trialling it.

They either put on complete shit or the very rare time they have a big event in Europe. Bisping or gustaffson
They force the whole event to be on in the middle of the night so that they can still get there 100k buys in America.
And they still sell out the arenas.
There are good fans in Europe.
Fighting sports is booming in UK.

This is not the excellent Brit wit I was told about.

Interesting idea but the problem is that I think that just feeds into the problem
The UFC treat uk/ Europe like a b league of events
No wonder no one would pay.
Just because a country might not have the biggest stars or best fighters doesn't mean they shouldn't get to witness it still.
We are fans of a sport not nations
If Jon Jones defended his title at Wembley and sold 1 million? Would it be a problem?

Yes, and you do realize the EU isn't Europe, nor does a MMA promotion have to worry about a country being in the EU or not?

Combat sports are already pretty big in many European countries and McGregor definitely has helped grow MMA and the UFC in Europe a lot.

Boxing and fighting sports are bigger in Europe. There is more interest.
Times are changing.

2 of the top 3 heavyweight boxers in the world are from the UK right now.

The UK loves fighting sports.

I'm down with it. Give one of them intolerant places control over the WMMA addition. Like the places who make them stay inside and wear blankets.

ESPN had the national spelling bee on last night. I don't remember the last time UFC was on that channel.

That's right! I fookin hate wait till 6am for the main event
