So is HW LOL

We just watched 2 top 5 HWs in Pav and Acosta.... And no up and coming prospects in sight.

LHW and HW used to be the 2 premier divisions. They've been the 2 worst male divisions for a while now. Part of it is much better talent at the lighter weight classes but the 2 divisions talent level fell off a cliff too.
There are interesting prospects like Kuniev, Tallison, etc., but they tend to get thrown to the wolves too early. I hope they don't do that with Valter Walker.

Hmmmm. Walker's debut against Lukasz Brzeski (fucking Brzeski) suggests to me his last couple wins have been what they look like on paper. Only the Nzechukwu one impresses me really.

@rorschach51 how's your day without sleep going, buddy? Have you reached the point where your mind snaps?

The responsibility is on the ref in both of those situations to call it out and possibly stop the action. Guys are allowed to cheat consecutively with impunity. What's the fucking point of rules if you're never going to enforce them? I know you're getting your rocks off on Zhang's loss here, but it isn't about who's fighting, it's about the ref being shit and not doing their job.
The problem here is that the fighter should be rewarded for not hitting the back of the head with an instant stoppage. If you expose the back of your head, whether intentional or because you're rocked, that should result in an immediate stoppage once punches start being unloaded -- even if the fighter is covering the sides of their heads and the punches are hitting their arms.

But then you get fools on these forums crying about early stoppage, but you can't have it both ways. Either you have to allow the fighter in the dominant position to finish the fight with strikes to the back of the head, or you have to stop the fight even if no damage is being done, to protect the fighter with the exposed back of the head.

I don't see an easy resolution to this problem that won't piss off a bunch of people, though.

Only illegal cause Zhang was constantly turning away. Doesn't matter. He was losing anyway
I don’t know what specific punch or punches you’re refering to, but if an opponent turns into a back-of-the-head shot then it’s legal.

John McCarthy explained that referees have discretion during scrambles and such, where as long as a fighter is TARGETTING the legal areas then its legal. Even if a few shots misland in the process.

McCarthy actually used the Anthony Smith vs. Zhang Mingyang situation to explain some of this three months ago.

@Alpha_T83

What I mean was it was only hitting the back of the head because of the way Zhang was moving

Johnny Walker really showed his skills in this fight. Those calf kicks were brutal.
