When was Alistair's first appearance as Ubereem? Was it against Crocop?

The fight prior was against Mark Hunt, he had already been gaining mass but wasn't huge yet. Hunt actually looked significantly stronger and tossed Alistair like a child at one point

For me, it was when he KOed Fujita in little over a minute...

I miss the late 2000's version of Overeem (Ubereem) that was marching guys down and ending them confidently. He had vicious, one shot KO power and seemingly more durability. Now he has average power, below average durability, and has to use guile and perfect strategy to find ways to win.

It was vs "Fear the Consequences" Buentello for the SF hw strap i believe. Completely dominated Paul, and he damn near flew over the cage with a Sagat style flying knee. I remember thinking "goddamn!!" Also the way he dominated Crocop before the nutshot was a surreal moment for me as i was sure Crocop would win easily. Overeem was a different beast while on the horsemeat

That was only one fight away from him getting punked by Sergei. He also got thrown to the ground like a ragdoll against mark hunt but pulled off a sub from his back. I cant call that ubereem. For me it was against crocop. That fight he just looked unnatural and superhuman, especially since crocop is strong guy too. Alistair just looked so intimidating from then on for every fight until he failed his drug test in the ufc

His power is WAY ABOVE average. He's still got it. But you're right about his durability. We all know his chin is shot, and that he freezes up if you shake him a little, and so does he. So he *has* to be less of a stalker and pick his shots better. Or take it to the ground where he's generally pretty good.

Whenever I see this I remember I BTS video I saw of Overeem kneeing pads and the sound that it made, then I think back to this man's poor skull. Wish I could find the video

And that was a Fujita skull thicker than any human bean

I became a fan of the Flying Dutchman after watching this bout. I think he was like 19 or 20. He almost KOs Chuck... he's always been an exciting fighter imo. It will be sad when he retires. Hoping he has one last run in him, WAR REEM!!!

Good question.

I’ll say he reached full Ubereem status for K-1 2009 World Gp. So for MMA it would be around the time he fought Thompson and Fujita

His fight vs Duffee might’ve been a tease of a higher version but that might’ve been his peak

His transformation was nearly complete vs CroCop but not quite

waaaah i miss when the guy CHEATED TO WIN

First time I saw him ridiculously massive was against Badr Hari the first time end 2008. This was the first time I thought fuck this guy is MASSIVE. I think that was the start of Ubereem

But it was during his K1 2009 run he was at his biggest. Knocking guys left right unconscious in a really scary way. How he double knee'd Teixeira and the guy fell down like he was dead. They changed the rules because of Overeem no double knees aloud.

After this when he won k1 2010 he was also massive but more slimmed down and athletic looking defined muscles.

But the 2009 overeem was Ubereem at his biggest! Rip Ubereem 2008 - 2012

His durability is still amazing, it won him his last two fights
