Trump recently filed defamation lawsuits against CNN, The New York Times and The Washington Post. He hired Charles J. Harder to be his lawyer, who is famous for bankrupting Gawker Media back in the day over that Hulk Hogan crap, which was funded by Peter Thiel. A judge dismissed the suit against CNN in November. Now the suit against The NYT has also been dismissed.
Judge James E. d’Auguste noted three reasons for dismissal. He wrote that Mr. Frankel’s commentary was “nonactionable opinion,” meaning it was constitutionally protected speech; that the Trump campaign did not have standing to sue for defamation; and that the campaign had failed to show that The Times had published the essay with “actual malice.”
The article Max Frankel wrote, which led to Trump suing, is from March 2019. It's called The Real Trump-Russia Quid Pro Quo. It talks about Trump receiving help from Russian officials to defeat Hillary Clinton in 2016 in exchange for taking U.S. foreign policy in a more pro-Russia direction.
The lawsuit against The Post is still pending. Maybe the third time is a charm? Probably not.
