Television TRUE DETECTIVE Season 5 (Nicolas Cage in Talks to Star)

For a series thats lauded so.much theres like 1 good season. The Foster season was meh and thats 2nd best. ..season 2 had moments but awful. Season 3 was just boring.

Season 1 - tv series greatness n legend. Cage might get it back but needs a great co star.
The first season was arguably the greatest season of television (or taken as a miniseries) ever made.

We're all having a hard time letting go. It's normal. Just look at the Dexter thread.

Fully agree on Season 1. It was always going to be tough to follow up with a new story and a new set of actors, but Season 2 was SO bad. Muddled and uninteresting. Had to keep going online after every episode to figure out what the hell everyone was talking about. Turned me off completely to the other seasons.

Earlier this year I gave Season 4 a shot and was immediately hooked, although it didn't play out as well as I'd hoped. Debating giving Season 3 a watch. Any good?

No. The plot is pretty much identical to season 1, the main difference being a detective with memory problems and much, much more boring.

this Dexter season is best since season 4. But the other TD seasons didnt juat not meaaure up they just were pretty average and season 2 was a mess and was as if they mailed in season 3. Then season 4 felt forced trying to capture season 1.

Don't even consider season 4 part of the main anthology. it was ok but it wasnt True Detective; it was closer to AHS.

They just need a simplified story arc, lay off the cult shit and just focus on great actors and dialogs -- and make it a plausible mystery

They’re just never going to be able to recapture the lightning in a bottle that was season 1.

Woody Harrelson and Matthew McConaughey just had a real chemistry, and their characters were both really well written.

They seem to have moved away from writing interesting characters. But the dialogue between them is what makes the show.
Cary Fukunaga doesnt get enough cred for how good the first season was. People talk about Pizzalotto or however bis name spelled, but that dude can get lost up in his own ass with his writing, which is precisely what happened in season 2.

Fukunaga was a virtuoso with the directing, mood and pacing of the first season. He talked about how he respected Pizzos writing, but he had to heavily edit it to bring it back down to Earth. Which makes a lot of sense. He was an integral piece of bottling that lightning, and could even be argued he was the most essential reason for its success. That one shot take of the riot is fucking legendary.

I thought season 4 was decent, but the climax was poop. If Sir Cage is present in this season, Im all in.
