At least that's what it said on the countdown show.

Lucky folks.

Justin was just seen as a tough, exciting brawler. He'd often win just by sheer toughness and will but you wouldn't exactly call him a "technical striker". In fact, the very notion that he'd somehow turn into one didn't even seem like it was possible. Not only was Trevor able to help changed Justin's style, he changed his mindset.

No one used to consider Rose an elite striker. Going into her fight with Joanna, hardly anyone gave her a shot and those that did couldn't fathom the success she'd have with her striking against Joanna.

No one thought Marty had hands. He was seen as a cardio machine and a grinder. They certainly didn't think he had the power to be the first guy to KO Jorge clean. His improvements in such a short period of time from the first fight with Jorge to the second are remarkable. It was during this time that he spent with Trevor.

Trevor Wittman also trained Brandoon Schlopp, turned him into a b-b-beast of a striker, bubba!

How I wish Wittman would get to train KZ in his remaining years. He'll be a champ material for sure.

That's Brendan though... Trevor is good but what sort of divine miracle would have been needed here...

All jokes aside, how much time was Brendan actually spending with Trevor at the time?

Plus as with fighters getting better at fighting, maybe some coaches get better at coaching. It would certainly make sense if he's spending more time with less fighters these days.

He is the head trainer of Matt Mitrione, he was his best man at his wedding too

I wonder if he would be capable of making Kevin Lee better. That's a tall task

He's kind of more of a private coach these days, since closing down Grudge it seems he chooses very carefully who he works with.

I would guess making a percentage of the earnings of a select few big name fighters with big purses is more profitable for him than running a whole gym. If he's making 15% of Rose and Usman's purses, he likely had a great night financially.

Never knew he trained Schaub and Mitrione. Joking aside those two turned out a better than I thought they would from watching them on TUF. Matt turned out to be a tough dude, he just got into the game pretty late and is quite old.

Better for him and better for the fighters too. This is how it should be for all top level MMA fighters. Makes me wince a bit when I hear about them scurrying around to find training partners etc

Matt was a good, exciting fighter. I think he would be a star if he was fighting now.

That'd be quite a combo. KZ and Justin have pretty much expressed that they're fans of each other.

KZ already has that grit, power, and the animal in him. He just needs to improve his technique and fundamentals. Wittman is the perfect coach for him imo. I agree it will be a great combo. Oh how I wish.

What I noticed about KZ is that he has a high ceiling and is able to pick things up very well. He fucking learned the twister by watching Eddie Bravo videos. I think a pairing with Trevor would have been fantastic. Even their personalities would mesh I think.

Could you imagine the Matt Mitrione that KOed Black Beast in today's HW division.

<DCWhoa>

He would be very marketable in today’s climate. Was a much better trash talker than most that do it today for promotion purposes x
