Hey guys,

I currently living in philadelphia, and am looking for gyms to train at. Being the "fighting city" of philadelphia im sure there are some great gyms around here. Currently the one i am considering most is Balance Studios which offers Muay Thai, Judo, Wrestling, and MMA, but there most well known for BJJ. If theres anyone here that lives or has lived and trained in philly i would appreciate any advice.

Thanks

that place is pretty good, and if its the place i think it is they just got an awesome muay thai coach.

also check out phillymma, or daddisfightcamps. same place, google either term and you'll get alot of hits. alot of am and some good pro fighters coming out of each, though phillymma is a bit more mma focused i think?

phillymma also just got a new muay thai coach, none other than Coban. The Coban, famous amongs non thai's for his fights with ramon dekkers

Jeez, there are so many. It really depends on what you want to focus on (or not focus on), but I can vouch for Daddis' camps. They are indeed MMA oriented, but when the muay Thai program is headed up by Coban, it's hard to say that they don't take it seriously.

But, in the sake of fairness, there's also BJJ United, Balance, Maxercise, Fight Factory, Cool Hearts, Sitan, Semper Fi, Rocco's, Fight Firm, etc etc etc. It's a huge fighting city.

Balance is very good.

I hear good things about the other places mentioned in this thread too. Are you in Center City or elsewhere?

I go to temple university so im in North Philly, but i can use the subway to get around the city pretty quickly

not sure where the others are located, but phillymma is a 3 or 4 block walk from a subway station

isnt cool hearts muay thai part of balance now? or did they start their own place?

Last I heard they took over Body Arts in Northern Liberties.
