I think the top THREE MMA fighters of all time who has shown the effectiveness of their BJJ, so someone who had succesful career in both MMA AND BJJ must be

Werdum
Maia
Jacare

Werdum achieved the greatest success, Maia more consistent but not good enought to be a champ, and Jacare had a great career as well.

I haven't really followed their BJJ career, but it sounds like consensus is

Jacare
Werdum
Maia

in terms of their BJJ credentials.

And consensus of who most relied on their BJJ in MMA or applied their BJJ better in MMA is

Maia

Werdum/Jacare

But, in terms of their pure BJJ skillset, order these three.

Werdum
Jacare
Oliveira

I got to go with

Roger Gracie (One FC champ, good mma career and BJJ GOAT)
Werdum(MMA champ, ADCC champ and Mundials Champ)
BJ Penn(MMA champ and Mundials Champ)

I don't really understand the question, and it's a bit complex.

If being the best MMA fighter with a base of BJJ matters so much then it's kind of a sin to omit BJ Penn.

Penn, Werdum, Jacare, Maia = Top 4 probably.

Maia is the best BJJ fighter in MMA because he actually uses his BJJ.
I agree. And he does basically nothing else. He’s able to do what Royce did but in the modern era.

Maia has rudimentary striking and only a couple of different takedowns in his arsenal. And everyone knows exactly what he’s going to do. And then he does it anyways. Up until Durinho Burns this year, the only people he wasn’t able to impose his game in that 6 year streak were the highest caliber wrestlers in his division: Usman, Covington, and Woodley.

rousimar palhares is an honoroble mention, he was nasty on the mat. but he doesnt compared to maia or the others listed

I know he's not that high profile but i always find it strange Rani Yahya never gets a mention.

ADCC 65Kg champ and runner up in the mid noughties plus CBJJ world champ at brown then moved to MMA and 20 of his 26 wins in a 38 fight career are by submission.

For MMA fighters with great BJJ backgrounds I feel like all of these should be in consideration (only including those who could actually be called MMA fighters, so no fighters like Rickson)
Maia
Penn
Jacare
Werdum
Tonon
Kron
Lovato Jr
Gil Burns
Rodolfo Viera
Nogueira
