I have great respect for jaa panom(tony Jaa)
he is helping to spread and promote Thai culture, however people who watch these films need to understand that what jaa panom does in his films is in no way Muay Boran.
He studied the very basics of Muay Boran with ajarn sak chai, one of the few people teaching the true art on this planet, not Muay Thai with a Muay Boran title as a sales pitch.
Tony studied other arts such as Kung Fu,Capoeira, tae kwon do etc.He also studied stunt fighting for films and gymnastics and acrobatics.
He then combined all the fancy looking but ineffective techniques from all these arts and combined them with an exaggerated Muay boran stance that looks good on camera, the result being great film action, but obviously bad and again ineffective technique.
enjoy the films, i do,but understand this is not Muay Boran, real Muay Boran is simple and effective but never fancy.
